Hi cwish...

I think common-law or married are treated the same way. We were common-law and it went quickly for us.

No news... Sigh... We are now 59 days from last correspondence which was when they requested a VICroads check - which wasn't even necessary for us - and 141 days since arrival in Sydney. Thinking maybe we will be going for the record of longest processing time at this rate!
Suppose it might be because we are only common law? And my boyfriend is an English citizen not Australian? Ah well, if it's not here by December he is going to apply for IEC so at least he can get working...
Good luck to all as always!

Anyone have any news on Sydney applications? Did everyone at the VO go on a very long vacation?

I am updating my address with them so I sent an enquiry as well in the same email, and got back 2 emails, one a kind of stock reply that included a bunch of information about processing times and how they don't respond to status requests when it is within the posted processing times on the cic site, and another that seemed a bit more like a person writing: "Thank you for your email. Processing of Family Class applications is 6 – 12 months. Your application is awaiting review by a Visa Officer. We will contact you if further information or documents are required."

We are coming up to 6 months in 10 days. I had a look at the spreadsheet and the average is about 6 months. they must of been quiet at the end of last year and beginning of this year

I have noticed the same. Seems to be that the early birds got the worm so to speak.

I'd think work permit time lines would be different to family class?

8 weeks however is quite quick :)

6 months would be awesome.

I'm more worried about re-submitting documents that may become outdated (e.g., submitted 4 police checks, medical, etc). That would delay everything ... :-[

But it seems a bit odd how they just stopped all of a sudden ...

I agree that it is odd... how some who applied close to me have already got their visa while most of us are still waiting.

When I got my GCMS notes a few weeks ago (ordered end of July) it stated that the visa officer was not assigned yet and that the due date for that to happen was 5/8/2014. Logically if I was not assigned a Visa Officer till that date then I'd think others near the same time as me would be the same? I am assuming that of course our files goes to the VO and then it waits for a free visa officer rather then them picking and choosing which files to look at first and which to put aside. but of course I do not know how it all works.

It can be disheartening knowing that your application has been in process a lot longer than others. I would imagine that's why they have the average processing times and the memo not to be concerned if you haven't heard anything in that time period. It might be a case they are focussing on other forms of applications for the moment though one could never be sure. There doesn't seem to be much transparency on how it all works, other than the fact that we know quickly in some cases and slower than others that it is indeed working. Hang in there canadian fairy, I'm looking forward to seeing good news for you!!

Though my partner and I haven't requested any gcms notes, I have had some correspondence with cic when I was updating some information to them. My ecas status says I am in process, however, at the base of the email when it gives info on me. Uci, name, dob etc it doesn't give me a consultant number or a file number which has me curious?
