If they are citizens and just waiting for their citizenship papers, they shouldn't go on your application as dependents. They will need to go on the "Additional Family Information" form.

Yeah you won't hear anything until they start looking at the application. If the sponsorship application is straightforward you should hear back very soon after; it was just a couple of days for us between "acknowledgement of reciept" to "sponsorship approval". You can keep checking this site...
