Outland application while studying in Canada

Hello,
I hope somebody can help me here.
I am living in Canada on a study visa and want to apply for permanent residency under the family class. I thought I would have to apply "from within Canada". Now a friend of mine (also applying for PR) asked her lawyer and he said that I can apply "from outside Canada" as well.
Does anybody know more about that or can give me sources where I can find that out?
It sounds too good (and too unlikely) to be true.

Thanks a lot!
Camana

You can apply Outland while staying in Canada. In most cases this is the better option for many people because it is quicker.

I agree. My question is who is going to be your sponsor, as sponsors have to prove a lot of financial stuff and basically pledge to support you for 2 years.

The sponsor is financially responsible for 3 years (for a spouse or common-law sponsorship application).

Hi Camana, for the Inland/Outland question, check out http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spousal-sponsorship-t46995.0.html

In almost all cases applying Outland is better!
