Nope you do not have to fill any B4, the officer will do it for u. Just give him a $# amount of goods entering the country and what will accompany later...in my case she had nothing accompanying later and told the officer the value of gold and goods were around 4000$.

Just bring ur PP, Visa and COPR. That's all you need.

is there a limit to the amount of good/gold someone can bring if they are entering Canada for the first time?

As far as I know, you cannot carry more than $10000, in any currency, in cash.
I am not sure if there is any such limit on gold and other goods.

You would need to declare the $ you are bringing into Canada...which is mostly gold/clothes/appliances -
Tell them it is for your personal use. Declare something reasonable like 5k in value.
Amount of currency - Until $10,000 you need not declare is what i think. If you carry more in cash, you can declare as it is your money.

You are permanently moving to a new country for now..there is no restrictions as long as it is for personal use.

However don't show up at the airport with 15 pieces of luggage, be reasonable.

In my case, i didn't do any B4 - Just told the officer the value carrying was 4k and no more to follow. was very simple in Toronto@Pearson.
You can expect them to just scan all your luggage @ Pearson - random checking happens.

thx mate yeh ur right abt money tht if its more then 10,000 cad then we have to declare it i m sure abt it .
fprince its near abt 3 months tht cpc approved my application n 2 months for nd having my pp with them, status is still application received but if u see at my table most of people have there ecase in process even who havent received ppr, i know nd is v slow these days but worried ........shall i order caips , will tht effect processing of my case i mean will it delay processing or shall i visit nd personally....... plz advice

Thanks fprince for your response. My hubby will be carrying 3 bags (23kg, and 2 bags of 32kg), his laptop, $500, and some gold (he'll be wearing all the gold) does he still need to include this on the customes form?

There is no limit. You can bring as much currency in as you want, but anything that is 10,000$ or over has to be declared. Upon landing with regards to goods, there is no limits , you declare everything though that you have - including the jewellery or gold. You can do your B4 before landing to facilitate the process or wait til you are with the officer at customs.

Ordering CAIPS has no effect on your case in terms of delaying it. It is simply a record of your file. You will receive a copy of your entire file and see what notes have been placed with them from an IO. Depending on how the preocessing it going, you may not see much in ordering them. They are mainly useful for people who are going through interviews or through appeals because if they are kept right, you get an understanding as to why?? (you were refused or being called for the initial interview). In my case- there was nothing useful in mine at all. I knew my husband had passed all the medical clearences and the security was looking clean. Other than that, I got a copy of my application which I already had. It's a hard process but patience is key. They are probably waiting for clearences to come back.

No, no receipts. They assume the stuff you are bringing is to have been owned about 6 months prior to leaving the home country, however, there is leaway here on that. With jewllery, they may ask for receipts and appraisal value.. but again this is dependant on the officer you encounter. Landing for the first time they are usually generous about what people are bringing. You are essentially moving your whole life and they understand that. Again, as a reference although not the case for everyone I am sure, my husband came with some pots and stuff his mother thought we needed, new clothes and a bit of jewellery. We completed B4 before he left India and claimed about 3Gs of stuff (probably over generous since it was all bought from India), but they just stamped his form, scanned his bags (but didn't openly search him) and they sent him on his way.

Can you please advise on following :
1. how much time it takes to get the passport request ?Its been 25 days now for my application !! Under normal circumstances it's within the first month to month and half. There has been cases where it has gone much longer. Give it another week and then you can always send them an e-mail. They may ignore it as they get a large volum of mail everyday (Written, FAX and e-mail). Although, you got a letter from Missisauga saying your file has been transferred, it's not a guarantee that India receives it write away as it is first transferrred to Ottawa for processing (uploading to server etc). Therefore this can cause your PPR delay as it wont be sent until there is a hard copy of the file in CHC Delhi.
2. when does the CHC New Delhi changes status ? are they regular in doing so ? Normal days that people report seem to be Tuesday. Although, for some of us, it was done any time, all hours of the night. Don't expect an update every Tuesday though. Typical updates you see are that the files been received in Delhi, medicals have been received, notice if you are bing called for an interview and finally and eventually decision made status change.
3. How much time it takes to get the passport back after it is sent to CHC ? This is impossible to say for sure, averages have been about 3 to 4 months total processing time after your file arrives in Delhi. However, it can take less time or more time. We have had members have a turn around of about 2 weeks and some that wait months. Sorry I cant offer more help. My case was about 2 months, we got the visa back after the PPR because my husband was interviewed.
4. Is there any way i can enquire about my application at CHC New Delhi ? Another member told you that you can go to the High Commission website, and either e-mail them or fax them. Again, you could wait weeks for a response or not receive anything at all. They receive a rediculous amount of correspndence a day and feel that if you are within the 6 months processing time they don't need to respond. They state that there could be a 28 day waiting time for a response if they chose to respond to you inquiry.

My time line for end of 2010 beginning of 2011 is located under my name, you will see it with my post. best of luck!

I assume he is landing @ Pearson.
They will take him into a immigrant landing section and the person who assists him will ask him the VALUE OF GOODS entering the country.
In your case you can say....3000-5000$ for personal use in all 3 suitcases - including the gold he is wearing...no big deal.
Remember they will only get suspicious when you hide something from them which is illegal..smokes, alchohol, arms etc..in our case its only clothes/jewellery..so no worries and the officer will fill the
B4 for him with the $ figure and ask him if he has anything to follow..ask him to say NO if nothing follows after landing..you are all set.

Which flight is he taking, you should be all excited by now :-) all the best.

Customs form is for value of goods purchased outside of canada - Yes, you will declare the same amount in the customs form.

@Rav,

file received in ND on may 30th 2011
got update 2 weeks before, medical has been received but no PPR yet.

He'll be on JET, Landing on aug 6th at 12:30pm, coming from ND

k, so i'll let him know to declare about $3000 on the B4 form as well as customs form. is there anything else? I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Is it true, they harass guys more than girls?

On the B4 form, which address do we need to put, my hubby's india's address or our address in Canada. and What do we put in the port of entry?
