so my wife landed today

India (mumbai) Airport:

Immigration officer asked for Police Clearance when leaving. She didn't have one, but they where satisfied when she showed the marriage certificate. Why would India airport want to see a police clearance

Canada (Calgary) Airport
No issues - The immigration officer was impressed she had filled out the B4 and B4A form and had pictures and a excel spreadsheet of the jewelry. Immigration officer said it made her life easier.

Followed instructions on this forum for the B4 and B4A form

congrats :)

Singh Ji, did your sis receive her PR card yet? i guess its close to 6 weeks now. :o

B4 = you can do that in advance or immigration officer will do it for you (Optional)
B4A = You can do it in advance or immigration officer will do it for you (optional)
Police Clearence = Apprently you need it to leave India (We didn't have it, but showed our alberta marriage certificate intead). Immigration officer said that she is lucky that he is a nice guy and let her leave india. I would just have it handy with marriage certificate just incase you get a random wierd Imm Officer. (We just showed marriage cert)
Passport Sized Picture - Not required
Passport with Immigration Visa = Required
COPR Form = Required

hey mate do we have to give them value of everything we carry in luggage like old clothes, laptop, shoes n etc.? n wht do u mean by accompanying later?
fprince said:
Nope you do not have to fill any B4, the officer will do it for u. Just give him a $# amount of goods entering the country and what will accompany later...in my case she had nothing accompanying later and told the officer the value of gold and goods were around 4000$.

Just bring ur PP, Visa and COPR. That's all you need.

If you fill out the goods to follow list before landing the VO will be much happier.
It is not hard to do and will save you time when landing.
You have to provide the details of what goods will follow and the values of the items, but the effort is worth it.
If you want to avoid being taxed, the items must be on the goods to follow list.

guys, how long it will take to get the Health Card after arrival?

I do understand your rush ...but

Health card in Ontario is only valid from day 91 after landing.

You need the COPR/PP & a phone/CC/Bank statement with your address to apply. Hence, you need to wait for at least 2-3 weeks before u get a bank statement to go and apply.

Regardless once you apply, they will give u a slip saying health card is valid from day 91 after landing and they will mail the card out closer to day 90.

how many more days i have 2 wait for m passport to be stamped.....
ECAS still saying 'in process'....
CAN'T wait to change it to DECISION MADE!!!!!

Does anyone know what they ask for at immigration when you land? My hubby's coming on the 6th and I wanna make sure he's prepared.

Does he need to have the PR application with him? or can he apply for PR later?

thanks!

There is no need for any PR CARD application or fee...all he needs is the COPR/VISA/PP. They will send the PR card to THE Canadian address he provided to the officer in 6-8 weeks.

If this is Toronto airport, they have a separate section for landing immigrants and they are friendly and usually do not ask the dumbest question of all - why DID you come to Canada???
But be prepared for any kind of question cos they do random screening/audits in the airport and if asked your hubby must know everything which is on the PR application form.
Need to know all details about you who is the sponsor.
Need to have ALL ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES available, important - Marriage certificate.

1 of my friend's wife was asked many questions about the sponsor and then they let her go..it is actually very simple @ YYZ but security screenings can happen any time.

My wife was asked to scan all her luggage the minute she said she was landing when she was exiting the baggage counter ...this i consider random as well.

Due to the recent Bomb blast in Bombay i hear the Ind Govt has tightened rules regarding shipping electronic items through courier companies..
does anyone have a link for this? or know more...

for health card
it is different for every province

for alberta there is no waiting period and the effective date of coverage is when you land, as long as you apply within 3 months of landing....
ontario and other province the rules are different

i would suggest regardless have some sort of private insurance ready till the coverage and forms are processed by the provincial government. I got two weeks of medicals insurance for my wife till alberta health processes the health application

k, so i'll let my husband know to be prepared. Also, the address on the COPR form is different than where we live now. I don't know how but they put my old address on there. Is this something my husband should address? and when you say they will send the PR card to the address provided, don't we need to apply for a PR card? cause my brother's wife had to apply for one.
