Hi drdave,

Thanks for the predictions, I like em, though I will be really happy if I can get the passport back with visa by June 12, as I'm planning on going to India on the 16th of June.

I hate the fact that Indian Home Affair Ministry has a new rule where if you are a citizen of elsewhere and are on a tourist visa in India and have a multiple entry visa, no matter about the vailidy. YOU must wait 2 MONTHS before you can visit INDIA again!!!!

WHY WHY WHY ?

DNT2003
happened due to the bombings and terrorist activities, so they are very cautious with multiple entry foreigners visiting india for pleasure..

DNT 2003 - by birth are you Indian? if so why don you take a OCI and avoid all this hassle?

Yes indian by birth, and I did consider the OCI, I already took the pictures on April 3rd for it, but I read the part where it says if married you need WIFE LANDING papers :S, How can I do that if she hasn't landed yet? so there is a chance I might get refused, and it says it take 4 to 8 weeks, my NEW canadian passport should arrive by week of 18th April.. and I can apply for OCI, but some of the condisions really confuses me.. I have had the CGI-toronto website open from past 4 days, and not sure what to do about this check list.

2 Sets??? why can't they scan / make copy for us... shouldnt the $250USD + 20CAD VSF fee cover that part.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF OCI APPLICATION:

Applicants should ensure to arrange two sets of the application in the following order:

1.In case of SINGLE APPLICANT:
a) Parts A and B of the application (all columns must be properly filled in and no column should be left blank), duly signed;
b) Photocopy of relevant pages of Canadian passport;
c) Photocopy of relevant pages, [i.e. personal information of the Passport holder written by the Passport Issuing Authorities, including the page where Landing Immigration stamp is affixed and the last page, of Indian passport.
d) Photocopy of PIO Card, if any
e) Photocopy of Record of Landing.
f) Photocopy of Record of Landing of spouse, if married.
g) Photocopy of Record of Landings of parents, if unmarried.
h) Photocopy of Citizenship Certificate (not the Citizenship card).
i) Surrender Certificate
j) Any other document(s) submitted in support of the application.

Ok so I suggest this, i would send a Case Specific Enquiry to them, and ask what is going on. Send it on behalf of your wife, because they wont tell you squat but if they think its your wife asking they may tell you, just put your email as the email to respond to. Its been almost 4 months, tell them that and that you have yet to be asked for PPR or anything and you want to know what's going on. If you are stern but not rude, most times they wont respond directly but they will go into action and issue something. Both times this has happend to me and within the week I got what I was looking for, (ie letter for interview and visa). Its like a reminder to them that they are not doing their jobs and something in writting. At this rate they are not going to make your deadline of 6 months and they need to be reminded of it.

These are not holidays at CHC, the only holidays for CHC in April are the 22nd and 25th. Perhaps these 3 days will impact mail delivery.

When i went for my visa, I didn't get this restriction for some reason. I can visit multiple times over 6 months with no waiting. When I got my last one in August 2010, I was given those restrictions though. I don't know if it is because of family ties or what. I even asked them, because first one was stamped with the restrictions and this one wasn't so i thought it was a mistake.

I am gonna apply for the PIO this time when this current tourist visa expires.

Yeah its very strange, and your VISA (current) says T or V on the TYPE of visa?

I hope you mean OCI , and not PIO as far as I know no more PIO, just the OCI, correct me if I'm wrong.

CAIPS might tell u where the file is or what is happening with the file....it does take about 4 weeks to have the CAIPS notes....but it does worth it....especially for you...reason being is that u will have something to see as to what is happening @ the head end...

@ nylalisa....

yea...fprince can also send the CSE....it would also be beneficial and will act as a "reminder" for them....

@nylalisa

Here something I just found

http://in.vfsglobal.ca/images/oci-and%20PIO%20comparision%20sheet.pdf

so PIO is still valid / you can obtain, but only good for 15 years, OCI on the other hand is lifelong, and if you stay more than 180 days with OCI no need to register with local office, but with PIO you have to register if staying more than 180 days.

I suggest you go for the OCI in my opinioon :)

I shall suggest that fprince must do something to tell CIC to locate the file...may be through MP...

It is not normal that it takes so much time for file to reach ND....something is wrong...u never know if they have lost the file or something

And in my view it is not necessary to have the hard to assign it a file number.....these file numbers may also be generated at the time of creating soft file in the database (GCMS).

But I wish you luck that things are not too bad
