This is normal. 60% of the people will get there visa about 50-90 days after the file transfer.

50 days ---> Apr 5
90 days ---> May 15

Should arrive in the next month. Hopefully its not a long process. If it is then about July 15.

This is very great news, I've been in IT from last 10 years, and I'm planning on quitting this current job, and stay with my wife until she has the passport (I will only quit if this company gives me hard time with time-off) so when I return back I shouldn't have any trouble finding related job (I hope this is the case).

Anyways thanks for posting.

2011-2016, states that there will be a labour shortage of qualified applicants for IT related jobs in Canada within the next few years. The report was released by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC).

According to the report, over 106,000 IT related positions will become available between 2011 and 2016 in Canada; however there may not be enough people to fill those positions. The report has also indicated that the most shortages will occur for positions which require five or more years of experience.

In order to address the concerns regarding labour shortages, the report is suggesting five recommendations:
Post-secondary students should be encourages to take IT-related courses;
Foreign-education workers should be better integrated into Canada's IT workforce;
Making post-secondary education more cross-disciplinary; and
Making the IT industry more accessible for various skill levels and diverse employees.

Another important suggestion made by the report is to bring more foreign skilled workers to Canada. The IT industry will be looking for skilled workers with many different skills, rather than a specific technical expertise.

The Government of Canada has not indicated how these shortages will affect their immigration strategies. Canadavisa.com will report on any changes to the Canadian immigration programs once they have been announced.

The report is from Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC)

"The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is a not-for-profit sector council dedicated to creating a diverse, prepared and highly educated Canadian ICT industry and workforce".

Is there reason to suspect the report is not objective?

If you read the introduction you will see that the total number of respondents in the two surveys is 368.

Read it in full here (there are separate sections for provinces)
http://www.ictc-ctic.ca/Outlook_2011/index_en.html

Worth reading, but I would not base a personal career choice on it.

Hi DrDave...would you be kind enough to predict when I will get the visa? :D
My File transfer date(same as apprval date)was Mar 21..Appctn recvd date Mar 28th...
I already got a PPR dated Apr 05.. I'm guessing earliest would be 3 wk from Apr 05 or June 21 if delayed?

Hi drdave,

Thanks for the predictions, I like em, though I will be really happy if I can get the passport back with visa by June 12, as I'm planning on going to India on the 16th of June.

I hate the fact that Indian Home Affair Ministry has a new rule where if you are a citizen of elsewhere and are on a tourist visa in India and have a multiple entry visa, no matter about the vailidy. YOU must wait 2 MONTHS before you can visit INDIA again!!!!

WHY WHY WHY ?
