Looking for some advice - what is the maximum physical cash in rupees or US dollars that can be brought out of India when leaving for immigration purposes? What's the best way to bring funds into Canada? If you do an electronic bank transfer, how do you minimize the fees for the transaction and currency conversion?

Thanks.

To all who have got the DM and passport back from ND CH with the visa..

Do they return back anything beside the passport, from what I know and heard, they return all the proofs (pictures, chat logs, email logs, ticket copies etc) back with the passport?

Is that right?

All they sent my wife was Passport stamped with Visa, COPR (CIC Copy and Client Copy), and a cover letter explaining Permanent Residence in Canada (Applying for a SIN number etc.). We didn't get any application material back at all.

Thanks Nakash, I guess this prolly also varies per visa officer/office...

I know a few folks who have got back some proofs...

In any case, thanks for the response!

That's exactly what my husband got back too. But we hadn't sent anything valuable or original in the actual application - photos, emails, e-tickets, etc. were printed on regular paper, no handwritten letters, we did include a wedding invitation as one original proof, but that's about it. So there was no need for them to return anything in our case.
