Hi NEED GUIDANCE PLEASE...

Landed as PR on 27th oct 2011 and returned after 10 days back to india and got on the job.... married on 27th feb 12.. in court.. ritually going to marry after 45 days... i am having my pr card with me..

1. Can i start process of my spouse?
2. Is it fine if i am in india during the process and show the intention that would be travelling togather to canada once she gets visa?
3. IS interview compulsory in each and every case?

Hi there,

1. Yes, you can start sponsoring your spouse as long as you meet the eligibility requirements. However, if you're going to do a religious ceremony, you may as well wait until after that's done to file the sponsorship papers, so you can include that evidence as well - it will strengthen your application.
2. Because you are still a PR, you must be residing in Canada during the sponsorship process. Unfortunately you can't wait out the process with your wife in India. However, you are allowed to make short trips out of Canada.
3. Interviews are not compulsory - they're up to the officer's discretion. Mainly done to substantiate the genuineness of the relationship and clarify any details that the application raised questions about.

Hope this helps.

got DM. but the rest still says the same -

We received your application for permanent residence on September 23, 2011.

We started processing your application on February 17, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

is that normal ?

Congrats balibali. Very happy for you. Your wife should receive her passport in 3-4 days max. Did you start looking for tickets. I booked my wife's ticket for March 18 via BA from Hyderabad. Anyways, congrats again dude.

Ajay

Hey guys and girls,

How is everyone doing? Congratulations to all who heard good news from ND. I was away from the forum for the last 1 week as I very busy with work. I'm finally a little less busier, for now. Anyways, just wanted to let you know, my wife received her passport last week. Her ticket is booked via British Airways, from Hyderabad to Calgary for the 18th of March. We are pretty excited about it.

All the very best to everyone waiting for their DM's.

thanks dude. just waiting for the passport to arrive. will book the tickets then. i was thinking of booking em for 9th or 10th. but all depends on passport ! btw this is my new account. the email associated with that account was hacked. so scrapped everything.

request to everyone who has received DM:

can we request you to please post your spouse's experience with the PR process (at the time of arrival in Canada)? if possible, mention the following:

total time taken
what all was done
what questions were asked
anything else that could be useful

thanks

Yup, I was going to mail MP last week but got "in process".. so thought of waiting for couple weeks before mailing..
Also, the 6 month mark is calculated from when the application is received at ND, if you want to contact MP..
but ya.. the general average timeline is 6 months overall processing time, from what we see in this forum..
