These guys are so unpredictable, looking back at nylalisa's interview each question was so simple and was on the application form..not even one hard question and she also mentioned they never had a look at her supporting documents...

Are they doing this on purpose? like just to have a few interviews and delay a few cases to show that they are strict in the process?

Hi fprince, as far as I can remember I know they will let me keep my old passport, but they will just cancel it and will have a either corner cut, or hole punched, depends.

the only reason I can't wait is because I require INDIA visa to visit INDIA, and I'm planning on going to India to bring my wife. my current multiple entry visa expires on May 8th, and in order to obtain indian visa again, I'm pretty sure they require a passport which is valid for atleast 6 months.

What do you suggest?

I am not sure how the canadian renewal process works but in case you have to surrender your old passport..just make sure you photocopy all pages of your entry/exit stamp when you visited your wife.
You will get your visa very soon and your passport only expipres in July..is there a way you can wait for a month? you should be all good by then..

i totally agree with you....i guess that was the purpose to show ppl that they are very strict in their processing


i blv it all depends up on the VO/IO....some are like ok.....and some are like to deep in detail....but if they pick cases randomly then i guess ppl have to go for the interview.....


nothing yet from my sister's side yet....same old thing on e-cas..."Application Received"....



lets hope that chc nd starts working fast now before they actually hit the summer season in india or before ppl taking off for vacation time...

yes...u r right....Consulate General of India will not grant u the visa if it is going to expire within 6 months....u have to apply for a new pp to get visa from CGI....

Just stumbled upon this and thought of sharing...this is the guide CIC uses to assess Family class...which says ' this is a priority'!!! I don't understand why they would hv to delay it if that was the case espcially if everything looks legit!!!

If you get passport bk why not get a new one? you'll get it in less than 2 wks...! I don't see why it would affect the application...you can update it with CIC if anything at all..

If that is the case, you can apply for a new passport..how long do you think it would take them to issue you a new one?
And yes, if you want to apply for a Ind Visa with your NEW PP i would then suggest you fax ND your new PP details once you get it..should be straight forward.

Wife - according to them...well hey fprince, you waited for 30 long years..why don u wait for one more?

it's in the paper that this is "priority"....but for us....may b not for them....they will still take their sweet time to process the cases as they come in....



even if we send the docs to them on time....the file will only come on top when the "bring forward" date approaches....doesnt matter if it is soon or late.....

Just apply for the new pp and don't have to tell. Mine was expiring in August 2011 and I needed a new one to come to India. I just went for it and havent mentioned a thing.

I didn't ask to go in the same room. He went alone when he was called, mentioned I was there and that was it. I was not called for an interview at all. It was very smooth and they asked him only questions on the application. She had it in front of her and she typed his answers as he spoke.
