I sent everything, including police checks, medicals, and paid all fees upfront.Jermiah29_11 said:Hi, I'm new to the forum. My husband and I are just about ready to send in our application. It is all complete except for the medical and police checks. We found the CIC website to be very confusing and conflicting on when to do these. It has now been advised to us to have the medical done upfront (even if it may expire in the process) but have been told we can wait to receive a letter from the High Commission for a request for the police certificate.
I've read through a large portion of this thread now and have seen that some of you had very short wait times (July - December). I'm wondering if you included a police check right up front or if you waited for the request for it?
The CIC website says for Ghana:
Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes. However, applicants should normally wait to apply until they receive a written request for a police certificate from the High Commission, Accra.
He will go for his medical on Monday but would be good to know if we should also make the effort to do the police check too.
Thanks so much!! Thanks also to those who offer hope that the timeline could be shorter than a year.
We went to the police HQ in Accra, requested it and submitted that.Jermiah29_11 said:Thanks.
I am just wondering then how you obtained what info specifically you needed in order to get the police check?
As it also stated on the website:
Local Requests
Applicants residing in Ghana must present the Canadian visa office's letter of request in person to the General Police Headquarters of Ghana in Accra. Fingerprints will be taken at the time of application. There is a processing fee of US $120 cash.
Did you do just a regular police check and fingerprints and just include that?
Thanks again!
I've been dealing with Accra for almost 4 years. In my experience, wait for them to request the police checks and medical. Also, kindly request them to email you all correspondence.Jermiah29_11 said:Hi, I'm new to the forum. My husband and I are just about ready to send in our application. Hello, It is better to send everything together as it saves time. The process four years ago is different from the present process. Everything is now more simplified.inlimbo said:I've been dealing with Accra for almost 4 years. In my experience, wait for them to request the police checks and medical. We just received a request a week ago though. I'm trying to understand how we didn't know we could somehow send the medical without a request.fernendez said:Hello, It is better to send everything together as it saves time.
