DHL does not have any prepaid package for the return of the passport. What happens is that once you get the email from Accra saying your document is ready, you forward that email to the DHL person you sent the original mail authorizing them to pick up your package. They will then send a copy of the email with their courier in Accra who will then pick up the package. You will also have to go to their office to pay for the return of your passport.

Hope that makes sense.

Opester are you sure? looking back at this thread..people used to include prepaid return envelope when they sent in their passports. Then the office would email them when they return the passport with that prepaid return envelope.

I'm sure you're right but are you sure? is this the new thing now?

Really waiting to hear from Opester if her husband has received his passport. I really want my wife out of Nigeria before the elections. What do you guys think of the election? or her leaving on the 27th?

I think you'll be ok by next week..it normally takes a week to 10 days so you should be fine. when did you send your passport?

She just sent it today. Right now it's leaving the Facility. And we didn't include a pre-packaged envelope. I believe that's exactly what I did when mine was ready 3 years ago. They mailed me saying my documents are ready for pickup. That was when i sent the details to DHL in Accra to go pick it up. I can't totally remember but It looks that way to me.

One thing I'll like to let people know about entering Canada as a Landed Immigrant. Please please please, go and review Arriving in Canada on the CIC website. When I was coming into Canada in 2012, I made sure I listed down every single Item in by Luggage. I mean every single Item. Including the 2 phones I brought with me. Including a special sandal my wife bought for me. When I was finally interviewed at the border, I was asked if I had anything to declare, I said no. I then proceeded to let them know I had also listed down everything in my luggage. The lady who attended to me was smiling. Probably smiling because I just made her job easier. My luggage wasn't even opened. Please list down everything. You dey bring wrapper? List am down. Even if na T-Shirt, put am down, plus color and size. I'm stressing that it is important. People who didn't do so on my flight, were delayed for about 45 minutes with thorough searching. Hopefully other people can share their experiences so that people can learn from this.

Hey Gamer. As of now, I am yet to receive any confirmation to pick up the passport. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we hear back from them this week as his package was delivered to Accra last week Monday, March 9.

In all honesty, I think as long as people stay at home for elections, things will be fine. But then again, the decision is yours to make.

Lol. You sound like Nigeria is going to explode after March 28th. If your wife is ready to leave, then she can leave on that date, but if not she should relax and take it easy....Although it depends on the area she is living in. If she is in the North, please get her out as soon as you can. If not she can wait till she's completely ready. She just has to be more careful...that's all. But I can assure you that the country will still exist after the elections.
