Hi Everyone,

I stumbled upon this thread and with what I have seen and the encouragement you all have shown to one another, I am sure this is the right place to be.

I met my husband in August 2013,He landed in Canada On October 2014 and got his PR card in November 2014. He came back in December 2014 to get married to me (We are both Nigerians). We got married early this year (Jan 3, 2015) . We did traditional and court wedding and we are planning to do the white wedding over there in canada

He will be leaving in three days time to Canada with the hope of sponsoring me to join him over there. Today, I felt overwhelmed by the realization that I may not see him again for some time and I need as much advise, support and encouragement as I can get.

1. First of all, he is going as a Federal Skilled Worker and he has no job yet. I am worried if he would be approved as a sponsor.

2. Is there anything we need to do before he leaves finally to ensure that our application is processed as quickly as possible.

3. While he is away, is there anything I need to do to ensure speedy processing. We are both health workers.

Please advise me from your past experiences. I am getting really worried.

Welcome Neelzar! I am not much help in answering questions because I am the one to always ask them. For the question about no job I don't think that will be a issue, from what I understand to sponsor a spouse you have to prove how he will support you, can't have claimed bankruptcy, can't be on goverment assistance, can't have a criminal reccord or outstanding child support. Other then that he should be ok. If I am wrong I hope someone will correct me. As for the other 2 questions everyone is amazing on this thread and will be happy to answer these questions. neelzer u are welcome to accra thread,
1.you dnt neccesserily need financial display to sponsor your spouse so he can sonsor u but he needs a job to be able to pay for the processing fees and other things of which am sure he will do
2.once your marriage is legal u need as many as enough pictures together with family and friends,pls take note of that,any financial support given u must have a reciept kept very well,open bank accounts with him,buy properties with her name if u can,all do things that shows u guys are truely marriade,unquestionable display,
3.u cant necessarily do much all u need to is spelt in the second point but there many questions we can answer here so dnt hesitate to visit here when its time to submit,if he pays the right of permanent residency fee upfront he is likely to fall within 6months or less,and pls if possible get him impregnate u endorsement right? yeah so thats it for now.all the best in the journey

Are you saying he landed as a Federal Skilled Worker?

It's really not a problem as he is a PR and can sponsor you provided he has no other marriage to worry about or legal issues or child support. As long as he can show he can support you then you should be ok. Having said that, he needs to get a job ASAP.

Before sending the application, make sure to provide as much evidence as possible that you're relationship is genuine (photos, marriage certificate, chat logs, financial help, emails, phone bills etc)

Not much you can do to make this faster, just make sure the application is complete, you have lots of proof and pay everything upfront if you can (submit medicals and police certificates early)

Actually in 2014, Accra seemed to working on a 4-6 months time frame..I hope they keep this up.

Good luck, your first step is to get sponsorship approval from Mississauga (it takes about 2 months)

Hey Neezlar,

I thought I could share this link with you as regards the above question. If you sponsor does not live in the province of Quebec, He is required to submit the IMM5481. "Sponsorship Evaluation"

We have both the medicals, police report as well as the fees added to the application.
Are we suppose to receive an email notification from CIC upon receiving our application as well? How long does it take to receive this notification please?
