Hhhh..totally hilarious but absolutely true, what makes it more difficult that it is unpredictable, irrational, unexplained and totally arbitrary process. You live in the absolute darkness unable to analyze it nor study it or even understand why and how and when. It is like death , you don't know when and how it will come , but what you know is this.. either heaven or hell..is what on the otherside!!

no need to hire a lawyer, unless its a specific case you are arguing about... like for eg you have been arrested before, or lived illegally in a country in the past... that sort of thing

after 6 months its just security checks - if you havent been rejected yet, and you know in your head that you havent given any false information anywhere - you should be fine... i know the wait is hard but life doesnt necessarily have to stop only becoz of this... :)

Yes, I imagine its just security checks - I do have an extensive travel history, but also a very solid record of it and for the purposes of my job. But still the wait being anywhere between 7 months and 24 months is really harrowing. It almost feels like you should give up on this and pursue something else.

Hiring a lawyer for going over 6 months is futile and any lawyer worth his or her salt, will tell you so!
You hire a lawyer, if you want their opinion on your GCMS notes (Lawyer's opinion is a service which GetGCMS.com provides!) or if you beleive that an adverse decision has been taken in regards to your file (Ie. Appeals, etc).
Give IRCC a call once every month (and I personally also order a set of notes monthly)!
Cheers

Just ordered my first set of notes! I will certainly continue to do so.

But I've heard that some lawyers can step in and request that your file not be needlessly delayed. They can also follow up on Security Checks to make sure that they are efficiently done..

Thanks all for your encouragement. This is a really patient persevering group!!

I admire and salute the patience of everyone waiting for such a long time. Lives standing still and precious time passing in expectation of a single e-mail that changes our lives. People around you say things like: it happens for a reason, it teaches you patience, it will be worth it... but the one who waits doesn't know what to believe anymore, is it fate or pure coincidence? The important thing is, that hope always remains...
7 months and getting philosophical o_O
Have you tried to get CSIS status?
I have the same date of BG IP2 like you do, and they replied they finished SS on June 12th.

I didn't, can I do it from abroad? Any updates for you after that?

I did it from USA, they don't require you to be in Canada for that.
I raised CSE and wrote an email to Ottawa, but got no response...

So my BG was IP2 for almost 2 months now and today I received email from CPC Ottawa that my application needs "additional verifications".

this I understand means security screenings. And so I join this thread now.

I read some posts by @conroex3800 and find them informative.

cheers

Yes, most probably you also stuck with security.
Please share your country of origin, residence and visa office.
I would recommend you to send fax to CSIS like it's described here https://www.csis.gc.ca/scrtscrnng/index-en.php
and order GCMS Notes to find out what's going on with your application.

origin and residence is India. Visa office is Ottawa I guess as I have not ever received anything from Delhi VO.
yes I will see if it is possible to get some information from CSIS.
i m not sure about ordering GCMS as I dont want to use a third party.

Dont believe all that - Lawyers like the rest of the world prey on the fears and doubts of the unknown...

i have not seen a single case being expedited due to "Lawyer interfering" yet... I would be more than happy to be corrected if i'm wrong... :)

Its been 10 months for me and the pain is unbearable
I feel your pain, friend. I am in my 8th month (closing in on 9), and to be frank it is nauseatingly irritating. The unpredictability and lack of clarity is maddening. For all we know, it could take another full year and we still wouldn't get a straight answer or explanation about why our applications have taken this long.

I really am happy for everyone who has received their PPRs, but it really is also very unfair when people who applied in April and May have gotten their PPRs and we have been waiting for 9+ months with no end in sight.

Says on my online status
"Background check Not applicable" I guess that mean i dont have to go through the screening?
