Getting back to BOWP, I gotta agree with Poppey and post this information here to whoever needs it.

The thing is, for BOWP, what matters is how your application status is at CIC. If, by the time they process your BOWP, your application is complete, you will get it approved no matter if you sent 1st or 2nd AOR.

I talked with 2 lawyers about this. The first lawyer, which is the one that applied my PR, said I should wait for 2nd AOR, just like CIC website says. It never happened.

The second lawyer, the one that applied my BOWP, said it doesn't matter and that I should apply with 1st AOR and we did.

Some people actually got BOWP without AOR at all.

So if you can apply for BOWP, do it as soon as possible with first AOR. By the time they process your application (90ish days processing time), your PR application will be checked for completeness.

Cheers and good luck
Just to add on this, I applied for BOWP even before receiving ITA :-X
At the time I applied, it was showing 110 days of processing time to get the BOWP, so I took the chances and submitted my application, hoping that at the time they processed my BOWP I would have received ITA, submitted my documents and had them reviewed and deemed as completed ??? (I know, I was too bold to make this assumption, also supported by a lawyer)

I sent the application myself, included all proofs of employment, job offer, etc..., included explanation letter and, on May 19 my BOWP was approved.
I never received the 2nd AOR. So like our friends already said, if your work permit is about to expire, don't hesitate and send your BOWP application (send the paper application) because, by the time they process it, your PR will be in much better shape (if not approved already) ::)

Fellas, today my application status was changed from "Application Received" to "In Progress" and I was asked to provide two additional documents through myCIC account: 1) resume 2) Supplementary Information Request for Students form (the name of my supervisor/school/my employment plans for going back to home country).

I have finished my graduate studies in Canada and currently working full-time on PGWP.

My timeline is as follows (also included in the spreadsheet):
- CRS: 490 (CEC, applied inside Canada)
- ITA: April 17
- AOR: April 28
- Medical: passed
- BG check: In progress
- ECAS: In progress (3 lines), July 28
- Additional document request: July 28

Why the heck do they need my employment plans for going back to home country?

I have been asked to submit detailed resume, publications list, supervisor contact info and so on about month ago, too. Well, submitted and no updates after that. Guess, it is because of our subject of study and home country that raise some more strict consideration to the officers. Anything related to Energy would raise a flag I suppose. A friend of mine got that request for his PNP stream application, and it took one more year for his file to be processed, compared to the processing time posted by CIC. It is a pain, I know. Myself, submitted on April 8th, and not very optimistic to hear from them soon, as the last update was this doc request in late June and I submitted the day after.

Seriously?! my field of study is Civil eng., hope it won't take them long to process the application.

-- MAJOR UPDATE that some might find comforting [or not] --

Just had a nice long conversation with a CIC call centre agent. Here's a summary.

Despite ministerial instructions ordering CIC to issue a R10 notice [2nd AOR] "upfront", the agent admitted CIC has a backlog.
The agent totally agrees that taking 4 months to reject a single case is absurd especially when ministerial instructions rushes them to process cases entirely within a total of 6 months [counting from AOR date]. However, CIC recently gave them clear new instructions : if an applicant's case doesn't receive a R10 notice within 18 weeks [counting from the AOR date], said applicant is AUTHORIZED to call CIC and CIC agents are then AUTHORIZED to look into the applicant's case, provide individual information, and if no R10 notice is to be found in the applicant's GCMS notes, then CIC agents WILL leave an urgent note inside the applicant's case to rush the processing office into reviewing said case eligibility ASAP.

Basically, my case has an AOR dated April 8.
CIC encouraged me to call back on August 12, so they can specifically check the status of my case and provide info on the R10 notice [and if my case has any missing document or if it has simply been rejected].

FINALLY, an agent who's willing to be as helpful as she's authorized to, AND gives clear instructions, AND understands one's frustration :)

In the last or second last page of my GCMS notes (172 pages) it says R10 Ok....is that something I should be happy about or am i looking for something more concrete to tell me that my R10 is good.

August 12 is two weeks from now, I believe you would have some decision by then as you would be already passed the average time cic is taking to process cases. And you never know whether cic agents will acknowledge this statement then.

:) You answered your own question. If your GCMS notes say "R10 OK", then you have passed eligibility [regardless of what your MyCIC account displays]. But don't get confused here, it doesn't mean you are granted PR. It just means your application is deemed complete, all required documentation has been provided, that your application will be further processed and is not [yet] rejected. Many of us still have "eligibility in progress" without receiving a 2nd AOR [called R10 by CIC].

Thank you so much. I don't know how long this wait will go on for.
I really wish I could get my PR as soon as possible and get along with other things in life....life seems like a standstill as of now.

Not necessarily. For some users on this forum, it took 4 months and 1 week for CIC to reject their case based on ineligibility [R10 process].

If medicals have passed and my eligibility seems good, could there be other reasons as to why my application could be rejected?

Hang in there buddy :-[ I do know the feeling. It's getting extremely depressing lately since so many things depend on their decision.
But we can't do anything else but wait... unfortunately :-\

Ordered them on July 13. Takes 30 calendar days to be received.
Might receive them around August 13, which is pretty ironic given the date CIC asked me to call back :p
