Received a ghost update today.
Medicals went from
"You passed medicals on Dec 11 2020" to "You do not need a medical exam"

Medicals done 26th Oct 2020
AOR 3rd Nov 2020

GCMS notes (May 2021)
Security - Not started
Criminality - Done
Eligibility - Not started

US resident, Indian citizen

Is this a sign that they have opened my file?

I recommend ordering GCMS to see what is going on with your application. It may be a very good sign.
In my case I received application update and my medicals status changed from "you dont need.." to "you passed medical exam". So I immediately ordered gcms. After a month I received gcms and it turned out not only my medicals passed on that day, but also my application approved. After 2 months of that update I received PPR letter (Nov 9 2021)

He confirmed that it’s indeed November 2020 AOR & the PPR date is 9th November

Nice was it reflected on your ircc account? Because my own was extended in may and it hasn't been updated on my account only on gcms notes

Yes it was, I happened to check my acct in March and saw that it was extended. There wasn't even any notification sent to my email. Hope this helps. Most importantly they are actually and finally clearing the covid backlog so rest assured yours will come soon.

same happened to me as well... what is your take? it is a mass change in medical status without any significance or IRCC is actually picking up our files?
my application is approved since Apr'21, medicals expired in Jul'21 .. waiting for PPR..

Wow, thats wonderful. SInce they renewed, there is a good chance it will be soon.
