Hi guys,

I have a question.

When I got my AOR on email, my wife's name was mentioned as her birth name. But I applied under the married name. I also attached the passport copy which has the married name under the "alterations" section.

Do you think the CPC-M would have looked at the photo page and put that name instead?

When I called CIC, they adviced me to contact CPC-M through email. So I sent an email explaining this. Waiting to hear from them.

Is there anyone else who has heard of this or some advice as to what to do?

That's a good question that you ask, I'll try to answer that. Ive just received an email saying that they received our applcation, ( my wife is sponsoring me), with her name being in the form of her old family name. It didnt bother me as much though, because im thinking that because her original name is her initial government name used when she was born and became a citizen, that this is what the government goes by still. Also, my wife still has her old family name on her passport too, so that could be the reason too. Im not really sure of the real reason though. I know that they have the marriage certificate and there also able to check the records, so I dont think there is any doubt that they dont know our spouses new name, I honestly think its just there preference to use their old name. Well let us know if you get any legit, answers. Goodluck to you and all of us.

Hi everyone, I would like to be added to the spreadsheet.
Our application was sent out on July 8th, received on he 10th according to the post office but we have not yet obtained a receipt from CIC. I did my medical on March 19th.
My Visa office will be Los Angeles and I'm trying to join my boo in Calgary, AB!

Alright Dlagirl, you are all set, welcome to the Chill Spot!!! You will find all your information on the spreadsheet, oh one thing, though, you and me, our visa offices will actually be in Ottawa, first, then if our interviews are not waived, and an interview is required, than they will send our application to Los Angeles, where the interview will take place. When you receive your AOR, they will let you know, right then and there whether or not that an interview is required. Most times they are waived, which is good, because it will speed up the waiting time. Yet, in the future, they can always change their mind, and decide on an interview even if they said they'd waived it. So, lets keep our fingers crossed, good luck to you and everyone else!!!

Thank you for your reply.

I guess in your case is it is different because, your wife sponsored you. So I guess it doesn't really important if your wife's name is birth/married name.

But in my case, I am sponsoring my wife so she is the one who is going to be getting the visa through VO. I wanted to be 100% sure about the name since the new name on passport and on the application is the married name, not the birth name.

Hopefully they see my email and correct the information.

Hey guys I received word from CIC that they have received my application, and that it is thoroughly being processed. Next step AOR!! It should be here in a matter of days, I cant wait.

Congrats dude! I'm anxiously waiting for my AOR now. Our applications were received the same day, so it shouldn't be too far behind you.

Hi guys,

I have a question which I would like to hear your advice on please. When I sent my application off to Mississauga, we only included our temporary marriage certificate, as our official one hadn't been sent to us yet (we only got married in June)

I now have the "official" copy of our marriage certificate. Should I be proactive and send this copy to London VO? I'm not sure if they would need this copy, or if the temporary copy is sufficient.

From what I gather, they email the AOR to your sponsor's email address (if you supplied one) If you didn't, then it will go in the snail mail to your sponsor.
