Dear Legalfalcon, Good Day!
Please help!
I want to resign from my current job, because after getting experience letter for Canada Immigration from my employer I am facing different type of difficulties. I am with this company since 2008. Currently I have no other job offer but my spouse has a good job so there is no finical problem.
My AOR is 7th Feb 2016, since 7th May 2016 my background check is In-progress, my last GCMS shows that our case is in local visa office and under security check.
My questions/concerns are,
1. Will my resignation put any effect on my case?
No, your resignation will not affect your case in any way. This is because when you file an application, on that day you have a cut off and anything after that is not counted. You are at liberty to leave your job as and when you desire and you don't even have to inform CIC.
2. How to communicate CIC about my resignation?
You don't have to. The only time you inform CIC is when you change your address, not your job. This is because the day you filed your application that is the time when everything is sealed. You job experience only till that day counts, not after. Moreover, your eligibility is passed and you are not at the BGC. That means CIC will most likely not go and verify your employer. That is the biggest challenge as some employers don't entertain questions after employees resign. Since you have already cleared your eligibility stage, there is no problem in your resigning.
3. What documents are required to include communicating my resignation to CIC?
See above.
Thanks!
Hope this helps!
