Thanks Asivad.
We got the Ontario email for applying for nomination. I had a few doubts.
Congratulations!
1. Work Experience: how many reference letters are required ? Also does one need to add joining letter/ reliving letter ? How many pay slips would need to be sent. Further the employment history includes 2 jobs with the same NOC. Do we need to send joining letters/ reference letters/ pay slips for both Jobs ?
You need a reference letter for each job that gets you points on their scale. You can get up to 15 points for 6+ years of experience in the same NOC 0/A/B within the last 10 years. Joining/relieving letter and pay slips aren't required if you have a valid reference letter. You will need to get valid reference letters for each unique employer separately even if the jobs were in the same NOC.
2. Settlement Funds - there would be 1 principal applicant and 1 dependent who would be migrating. But the application guide states that the funds should be enough for even dependents who would not be migrating. Does this mean we need to show enough funds for all the dependents including those who would not be migrating to Canada.
Funds are required only for PA and spouse/common-law partner/dependent children (whether they accompany your or not). No other family member dependent or otherwise (parents, siblings) need to be counted in this.
My next question is how does one show enough settlement of funds as the application guide states that the last 6 months back statements submitted should have enough money equivalent to the number of dependents. How does one work arranging the funds and crediting them to the bank ? Will papers of SIP/ Mutual funds work or does everything need to be in available cash in the bank ? I read somewhere on this forum about a gift card, can someone please throw some light on this ?Or are there any other options that can help us.
Preferably funds in the bank because Ontario doesn't allow anything else to be counted. Liquidate those SIP/MF and get the monies in the bank. The money need NOT have been there for 6 months. If the present account balance is equal to or higher than the required LICO in your case, that would work fine. The only requirements are that the funds must be in the PA's name and none of it should be borrowed. You can be gifted money by spouse, sibling, parent, relative or friends but you will need to submit signed self-declarations from the donor confirming that this isn't a loan and doesn't need to be repaid to them. In addition to that, you would need to submit evidence of the transaction as well to validate the declaration and prove that the monies were indeed transferred to your account.
3. I read on the Ontario website that there is a cap on the base stream applications. I also read on the forum that applications sent now will be processed in Jan 16. Can someone please throw some more light on this as it is confusing.
Further once the application has been sent, when will it get processed and usually how much time does it take. Do all applications get processed ?
Base stream is the NON-EE route. You don't need to worry about that as it won't affect you. Each application is processed (that's why one pays 1500 CAD) and is returned only if found incomplete. Else OINP promises to process 80% applications within 90 days or less. Expect some delays because of the year-end holidays but you can safely assume that they will process your application within the promised window of 3 months, give or take a few weeks.
3. Both me and and my husband have entered our profiles in the pool, now that one has got the OINP letter of interest and we would be submitting the application, can the other spouse continue with their profile in the pool ?
Assuming both of you have declared the respective spouse in your own applications and also mentioned that the spouse will be accompanying to Canada, there is no harm in letting the other profile stay in the pool. It won't make any difference though if their score is less than 450 as they won't be getting a 'regular' ITA in the near future. You haven't mentioned your CRS but if you have a 450+ score, you can ignore this invitation as you will get a 'regular' ITA in the near future. If you have a sub-450 score, recommend that you send in a perfect application to Ontario asap.
