Hey all, first off, thanks for spending your time trying to help me out. :)

I have a GF who currently lives in Thailand. The facts:

She is 25 years old
She has studied and completed a 4 year program in a university in Thailand
She is currently working for the Thai government
Her English is decent

My questions:

1. What is the difficulty for someone in her position being accepted into Canada to study?
2. How long can this process take?
3. Should she include in her application that she currently has a BF who is from/living in Canada?

Thank you very much in advance. Have a great day.

She has as much chance to get a study permit as anyone else as long as she can demonstrate a good English language capability through IELTS, a course selection and offer that is relevant to current qualifications/career aspirations, ability to pay the fees at least for the first year which could be in region of 15-18k Cdn per year plus approx 10k living expenses per year and also be able demonstrate intention to return to home country at the end.

The current guideline published for processing from Thailand is 11 weeks but that is only a guideline and could take longer could take less..

Not sure a good idea to mention having a BF in Canada as that could imply no intention to leave once the course has completed even if that is the eventual plan

If successful in applying for a study permit say for a 2 year course she could get a post grad work permit for 3 years making her time in the country 5 years so plenty time to establish common-law towards PR if that is your eventual plan.

thank you very much for your detailed answer Bs65. That's the only thing I'm worried about, is that they might say she doesn't have enough reason to return to her country once her stay in Canada is complete. She has no property, business, or children there. She will also be leaving her job to come to Canada to study full time. What are your thoughts around this?
