that's kind of weird. most probably since she still has a valid visa, the first time she sent her passport in, they thought they didnt need to stamp a new visa. hopefully, it's for visa stamping now. yey!
lucybear05 said:Another update. Our prospective nanny got her approval letter today, along with her passport including a new visa for a two-year period. It took pretty much exactly 2 months from the date they would have received her original application.
The letter is very short. It says nothing about the LCP or the basis upon which she has been "approved". It was very important to all of us that she be officially IN the LCP program, so I sure hope that's what we've accomplished here! The letter just says her "application to study or work in Canada has been approved" and she "may now travel to Canada" (which is silly, considering they know perfectly well she's already in Canada and has been here for 4 years). The letter is entirely written as though she isn't in Canada yet, and says "Please show this letter to the Canada Border Services Officer upon arrival in Canada", and that the officer will "issue" her "permit". She will technically be exiting Canada and entering again so she needs a copy of the letter of instructions, her passport and a copy of her contract.
So there is no work permit. I had been warned this would happen, including by all you experts on this Board. So it seems clear she must go to a border crossing and "flagpole" as I've been told. I will do a separate post to ask these questions, but will ask here as well - what would be the best border crossing option for her, if she lives and works in Edmonton Alberta (she doesn't drive)? Is it possible to "flagpole" at an airport - we have a large international airport, can she just go there to border services? What should she bring with her to the border in terms of paperwork, etc.? Should I provide her with a letter of explanation or anything else to assist her at the border? If she "flagpoles" successfully, does this mean her current work permit with her current employer is automatically cancelled (ie. if she flagpoles must she leave her current job at that time and immediately start with us, or could she "flagpole", come home to Edmonton, provide notice to her employer, work a couple more weeks for him and then come to us?) Yes Is there any reason I should go with her to the border, or is this definitely something she can do herself (I would rather not travel to the border with her, as we don't live near the border and I have a busy full-time job and a crazy toddler at home). She can go be herself; you may receive a phone call.
Many thanks for everyone's help to date!
