I am confused, if we have to put a tick mark for both Columns i.e Required to File and Taxes Filed ?

For each year such as 2016. if Taxes are Filed = Yes, What should I tick mark for Required to File Column for this year ? Looks like both columns needs an Answer?

Please clarify?

Yes, both columns need to be filled. I ticked 'yes' on both columns because I was required to file taxes and I did.
what does "Required to File" mean..? by default every one files taxes?
for the year(as a PR) that I wasnt employed in Canada and was outside Canada. I wasnt required to file taxes. So shall I put "No" for that column? Please Clarify?

If you filed taxes for all the years, I would just tick yes in both columns. If you were outside Canada and made no income in Canada + the other criteria in the link then I suppose you would put no. Did you file taxes in that year? You can file them even if you don't owe them any money in taxes

I also lived outside Canada during my Eligibility period ...but wasn't any Crown Servant abroad. Do I still attach print out of residency outside form? and fill NA in that along with explanation..?

People are ticking NO to that question and providing an explanation in a cover letter.

what does that mean...?? In actuality person lived outside of Eligibility Period .based on Online Calculator and Saying No becomes contradictory statement. I think it will be better to add the form saying N/A along with explanation.

TBH, there is no right answer on what to do. IRCC messed up the question. You could do as you suggested and still provide a cover letter explaining your situation. In my case, I was in Canada during the entire period. But sevral other people on this forum in the same shoes as you, checked 'NO' and provided a cover letter explaining it.

I think the this question was intended for people who were outside Canada during the eligibility period, and still want to claim those days towards satisfying the 3/5 residency requirement. There are very limited cases like being a crown servant that allow you to do so. IRCC shouldve phrased it better.

hopefully not
as per the understanding of taxation year after my researching:

if taxation year is 2017 that means you are filing taxes for 2016, so based on that context we have filed tax in 2017 so required becomes yes and filed becomes yes

Atleast I filled out starting 2017 going back till 2012

No, this is not correct. No one has filed taxes for 2017.

You have to list the years 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012

Hi.

I landed in Oct, 2015. Then, in 2016, I filed taxes for 2015 (technically, for Oct-Dec = 3 months only), even though I was not employed.
And, I filed taxes for 2016 in 2017.
Finally, I look forward to filing taxes for 2017 in 2018.

As per the online calculator, I will meet the requirement of physical presence in Canada in November, 2018. By then, I will have filed taxes for 3 years: 2015 (3 months), 2016, 2017.

My question:
Will I also have met the tax related requirement for citizenship eligibility by November, 2018?
