Things to do first

when you land plan to get the below three thing before you do anything else ( you cannot work or do anything without these things )
1: Social insurance number http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sc/sin/
2: Health Card OHIP http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/ohip/
3: Drivers License or a Local ID http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/drvlicen.shtml
4: Bank account
few banks www.tdcanadatrust.com (best for international transactions )
www.pcfinancial.ca (free bank no charges this will be best for you this is also my bank )

For all the above things and your landing process at the airport they will ask you to provide a mailing address. My suggestion is to use one address for all your paperwork so nothing gets lost in the mail and save you confusion.
