Hi Hooria,

According to "Applying for a Temporary Resident Visa Outside Canada (IMM 5256)", the Super Visa is a "a long-term Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for applicants seeking to visit their child or grandchild who is either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident."

Just above this paragraph is a statement regarding Temporary Resident Visas (TRV): "Visitors are not allowed to work or study in Canada unless they are authorized to do so under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. In many cases, a work or study permit will be required."

(emphasis added by me)

I'd say no.

There's a lot more information in the guide - be sure take a look:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5256E2.asp

I hope this helps.

Please guide, how to apply for a Super Visa for parents. Please provide details about the forms needed and supporting documents.

CIC website shows the link below, but it shows the only form IMM 5257
Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside of Canada [IMM5257]

Is this single form is enough or we fill the complete application package for "TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA"
Please solve this confusion.
Thanks.

Kindly help out with the following queries:
does one need to submit the following documents along with Parents Super Visa application:
- Air ticket (attested copy)? Return Ticket or 1-way?
- Original letter of invitation or Attested copy?

As far as I know, you do not have to have a return ticket. For the invitation letter, it should be the original one.

Hi Guys Please can you reply to my questions below regarding Super Visa application

1. Form IMM 5645 Family Information - On the top of the first page of this form it says "Complete ALL names in English and in your native language." Does that mean in the same section of the form i will have to write names in native language also just under the name in English or do i have to write in native language in a separate/additional page?

2. Invitation Letter - Do i have to attest invitation letter from a Notary in Canada before sending it to my parents in India?

3. Return ticket/Itenarary - As per the Super Visa application checklist we have to also submit a return ticket and/or an Itenerary. I read a comment by someone on one of the forums that return ticket is not necessary to be submitted with Super Visa application in that case should i submit an itenerary created by myself on a plain page? Please suggest.

Would really appreciate your replies.

Thanks & Regards,
ASJ

-Just attach the colored printout of invitation letter.
-There is no need to purchase a ticket but you can attach just the return ticket itinerary. Also, there is no need to attest it.

Above things worked in my mom's case.

You don't need to get return ticket. It worked for my parents and they are here with me in Canada. I also just got one-way ticket for them since there is no open ticket for India :(

1) for 5645 , I filled in English and with pen in our native language. And it will be under English , you do not need separate paper.

2) You do not need to do notary for invitation letter. It is a letter for inviting your parents so all you have to do in sign and date it...

Hope this helps :)

Thanks again Pari. Few more questions, actually as i am filing the application i am getting more and more questions and really appreciate your replies.

1. Should my parents fill IMM 5257 Schedule 1 form too with the application?
2. My mom plan to come before my dad but we want to apply the VISA for them both at the same time so will have to buy the insurance for both but the time dad will not be here the insurance will be useless, can you suggest what should i do in this case?
3. Is it possible if my mom and dad get the visa at same time and one of them can come first and other can join them later?
3. How much time it took for your parents visa to come?

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks once again.

Kind Regards,
ASJ

1) No, just fill 5257
2)For insurance you can always change the date of their arrival, apply together it saves time.
3)Your mom can come before your dad, it shouldn't be a problem.
4) it took 2 weeks, New Delhi... Praise the Lord!!!

Thanks a lot Pari for your prompt replies, these are really helping me with the application. I have few more :D

1. Regarding your reply for (2) above. Please can you elaborate? What i understand is that i will buy insurance for my parents which will have a same start date for eg. August 1, 2014 as in the visa application i will show that my parents are coming on this date (August 1, 2014). Are you saying once the VISA is granted i can get the start date changed on insurance by contacting my agent eg. Punjab Insurance?

2. In the visa application do i have to submit a copy of insurance certificate or the original?
3. Should i also attach copy of Insurance purchase receipt?
4. My Birth certificate which i will use to show my relationship with my parents is from India, should the copy of Birth certificate be attested from Notary in India or just a copy will do?
5. My parents will also submit their Marriage certificate should that too be attested from Notary in India or just a copy will do?
6. I also arranged a job letter from my work/employer. I believe i will not have to submit the original letter but the photocopy. Please can you confirm. I will also be submit my NOA, T4, pay stubs.

Many thanks to you. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
ASJ

Absolutely yes, you can change the effective date once the Super Visa has been issued. However, I suggest that you do that 3-4 days prior to the current date, when the insurance should actually be activated.
