Hi All,

I am a Canadian citizen seeking guidance on Super visa application for my mother-in-law. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help answer my following questions:

(1) I understand that there is an income criteria to sponsor your parent/parent-in-law but it is also a requirement to have specific fund balances in CAD for the sponsor i.e. me?
(2) Is the last 3 months bank statement enough or I should provide more?
(3) Do I need to notarize all these documents or self attestation enough?
(4) What are the documents required from my mother-in-law in India other than her copies of ration card, adhar card, income tax assessments and bank statements ?
(5) As the application does not seem to be too complicated, do we need to hire a consultant or my mom-in-law has directly go to the Canadian Consulate to file these documents?
(6) And the last one....How much is the approx. processing time for the whole process?

Again, I would sincerely appreciate your help/guidance.

Warm Regards,
Applicant

Hi,

You'll find quite a few answers in the Visa Office Instructions for India here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

As for the other answers:
Point 4: Your MIL must demonstrate that she has strong reasons to return to India.... property/land ownership + financial investments + immediate family, etc

Point 5: You can apply on your own. Most people apply without a consultant/immigration lawyer. The Canadian Consulate does not accept visa applications. Only VFS does/you can apply online

There's a thread on Super Visas.... Rossei has given excellent advice there:

Cheers

Maybe someone can answer this question:

How long does a super visa holder need to be outside of Canada before they can re-enter for another 2-year stay?
A day? A month? Nobody seems to know the answer to this.

That's because it depends on the CBSA officer at the POE.

To be on the safe side, the super visa holder should return after spending some months in his/her home country

I guess CIC keeps this deliberately vague, to make any long term planning impossible.
Thanks for the reply!
