Dear All Senior Members

I am going to immigrate to CA from the UK only because i want my ageing parents to be with me. In the UK there is no such facility of super visa, so I am considering CA. My CA PR application is underway. I have a few questions, please spare a little time if anyone can answer them positively. Thanks in advance.

1) Does the sponsor has to spend x amount of time before sponsoring super visa?
2) Since the applicants are living in India, so they will be undergoing medical exam. Does anyone know what all will involve in the test? My father has a history of heart attack and stroke. By the grace of god he is absolutely fine however he does need to see his doctors every three months for routine checkups. Can his medical history become a weak point?
3) They do not have any strong ties in Canada as my two elder sisters and paternal and maternal relatives are in India.
4) How much approximately medical insurance costs---Age 71, history of heart bypass surgery, history of stroke, diabetic, history of knee replacement.

Regards
VP Singh

1) There's no minimum time. You just need to have a job in Canada that meets the low income cut off.
2) It's quite possible your father's medical history may create problems - both for being approved for a Super Visa as well as obtaining insurance. However there's really no way to say for certain until he goes through the process.
3) They need to demonstrate ties to India to be approved for the Super Visa. So having ties to India is a good thing.
4) Unfortunately I can't comment - however I suspect it will be on the high side given his medical history. It may be difficult to secure coverage. If you do secure coverage, be aware that it probably won't cover existing medical conditions which means that you will have to cover any costs related to existing conditions out of pocket if anything happens in Canada. This can easily run tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Finally, note that the super visa only allows your parents to visit Canada for extended periods of time. It doesn't allow them to move or live here.

Hi Scylla

Thanks for the reply. I do understand that super visa doesn't allow them to live permanently however as far as I know, it's a 10year visa and one can stay for 2 years at a stretch and can return back in a day by visiting USA, pls correct if I am wrong.

Also will I be able to show my uk income as one year income requirement. I agree I will be needing a job too.

Thanks

No - there's absolutely no guarantee your parents will be readmitted to Canada for another two years just be leaving to the US for a day. First of all, they are better off trying to apply for an extension from within Canada (higher chances of success than a border run). Secondly, there is no guarantee an extension will be approved (sooner or later they will most likely be told they have to return home). Once they are denied an extension, they will have to leave and reestablish ties to their home country (i.e. live there for 6-8 months) before it's recommended they try to visit Canada again. As previously stated, a super visa does not allow your parents to move to Canada - only visit.

Your UK income won't be accepted for a super visa. The income has to be from a job in Canada.
