Super-Visa extension

My mother got 10 yrs visa and 2 years stay stamp on port of entry. I am preparing for applying extension of stay.

1. - how many days in advance I can file application (for super visa) for another 2 yrs. stay.

2. - my mother is widow and I am only son, so it's difficult to stay alone for her; does she require to leave country at least for one day before she get another 2 yrs. term

3. - We had must have medical insurance for her and will have again until she has valid stay permission. I can submit good income proof too. How difficult is to get permission of extension.

4. - Does she need to go all medical test again, which were done at first time.

5. - I am bit confuse with 10 year visa but 2 yr. permission to stay. Can someone help me to understand benefit of 10 year visa on passport from applicant's point of view. As an applicant I need to submit application again, how would big term visa is helpful....

They can leave and return as many times that they wish in the 10 year period (assuming they are still admissible)

In our case, is it possible to apply for extension of stay for 2 years while my mother is living with us in Canada? or she must go out of Canada & then come back?

You can apply for an extension on the CIC website. I don't have the link near by. Just apply for another two years worse case senario they say no and you mom has to leave.

davek1979 thanks for your reply, I found the link to apply online but that is for applying for visitor's VISA.

I am confused... as mentioned by PMM that 10 years visa means multiple entry visa and applicant can visit Canada again with in that period....

Do I need to apply for visa ? - I think no.


What are my options? I think either of two,

1. Get USA visa for my mother, cross the border with her and come back to Canada & get stamp on POE (hopefully for another 2 years)
Having her medical insurance doc since day of landing, my job letter & proof of income (does she need medical again?)

OR

2. Apply for extension of stay within Canada (any suggestions ? any link where I can get information to apply for extension of stay?)


Do I have any other option?
