Hi Everyone,

Me and my wife both are Permanent Residents and we want to apply super visa for our parents. I am the only working member of the family as my wife is still searching for her job. I have the below queries, can some one please clarify.

1. How many applications do we need to submit ?
a) is it 1 application per parent with a total of 4 applications separately ? or
b) is it 1 application per couple with a total of 2 applications.
c) is it only one application for all the 4 parents.
2) Can I apply for my parents as well as in-laws if I meet the income requirement for household ? or I have to sponsor my parents and my wife has to sponsor her parents.
3) If my wife has to apply for her parents, can she do that considering she doesn't have a job ?
4) Can some one also please suggest some good insurance companies to talk to.
5) I am not sure if we need to hire a law firm for the process, can some one please suggest if it is needed or we can apply by ourselves.

Thank you !

1) Two applications. One for your parents and one for her parents.
2) You cannot apply for her parents. Your wife needs to be the one who applies and you will co-sign the application.
3) See above.
4) I will let others recommend.
5) Your choice. Most people here do it themselves.

HI All, I am currently in my home country and will be landing in canada by March 2022 on CoPR. Can someone suggest when can I start my Single mother's super visa as she is completely dependent on me? Any suggestions / pointers is appreciated.

You will be able to start the super visa application after you have filed your first tax return in Canada and received your NOA (notice of assessment) from CRA. So if you are landing next month, you won't have your NOA for another year at least (i.e. in the first part of 2023). You will obviously also need to have a job that meets the minimum income requirements.

She can apply for a TRV (regular visitor visa) in the meantime.

I would recommend that she not apply for the TRV immediately but instead wait until you have lived in Canada for 6-8 months before she applies. If she applies immediately, the chances of refusal are significantly higher since it can cause IRCC to become concerned that she is not a genuine visitor and intends to use the TRV to move to Canada.

Even if she comes to visit on a TRV or a supervisa she is still visiting and needs to have plans to return home at a certain point.
