I did a travel exempt we form yesterday and got a reply today, below is what they wrote - guess I am applying they new portal


We have received your request for a written authorization under the travel restrictions exemptions.



Please note that IRCC will only issue written authorization to an applicant who holds a valid Canadian travel document (i.e. electronic travel authorization [eTA] or visitor visa). Based on our review of your enquiry and the information in our system, we can confirm that your application for a visitor visa is in our processing queue. However, since you do not yet have a valid Canadian travel document, we are unable to process your request for an exemption to the Canadian travel restrictions. As such, your request will not be processed.



While we are unable to provide an update on the processing of your visitor visa application, please note that if you applied before September 7, 2021 and need to travel to Canada now for one of the following reasons, we recommend that you submit a new application through the IRCC portal. If you require written authorization, your request will be processed as part of your new visa application.

Same i got when i applied last week. I dont know they say travel exempt is for immediate members and they say they are not exempt and need valid canadian document. Seems crazy..

Is it a good idea to book tickets for my parents upfront and submit it to the IRCC through webform ? I have see this clause in Webforms where we can submit tickets and let them know how urgent it is.

many have done this, for some it did work and some it did not from what i have read... if emergency then attach that letter and tickets, it may work

@swordenium : i have an question on biometrics reflecting in IRCC portal. Did you get any email when they were updated in new portal or you just saw them updated in portal.. my parents still not showing in new portal. i am feeling this new portal is dumb..

I am applying for super visa for my father using the new IRCC portal. In the list of required documents, generated for the application, I do not see proof of medical insurance, while my understanding is that medical insurance proof is required at the time of submission of the application. I checked twice to ensure I provided correct inputs at the beginning:
* Visitor visa or super visa
* To unite with an immediate family member who is a Canadian citizen
* Stay duration 12 months (2022-01-15 till 2023-01-15)

Only documents listed (and seem to be required) are: "proof of relationship", funds, "proof of family member's status" and "passport"

Although medical insurance needs to be purchased before he travels, I would like to know if I am making any mistake or it is not a mandatory document for the application any more. Did anyone here have the same situation and how did they handle it?

Yes your doing a mistake.. Dont take the immediate family option, in that there is an option to visit child/grandchildren > 6 months(supervisa). You need to think you are a dad and fill that... you will see the travel insurance requirement then... hope this helps

Hello,
I applied for my mother's Super visa on May 8th, 2021.

No status updated yet. No medical request yet. Still showing background check. Biometric done when visited Canada last year.

Is anybody in the same boat who applied around the same time and still waiting ??

Yes, I applied for my parents in Dec 2020. No update yet

Submitted biometrics for my mom on 15th oct. I see biometrics details updated on the profile but application status still showing as it’s waiting for my action. Any idea why it’s still not updated? Does someone manually changes that?

Did you read /open all the messages. Unless you open and read they don't go off.. sometimes glitch too.. Also check if any document they requested..
