It is incorrect to say that applying for accounting after high school could be an issue. Income, I agree she needs to show good funds from herself or sponsor to qualify. Like you said, she needs to obtain the GCMS notes to see the full picture of why she was denied.

Applying to college in Canada after high school is the remotest reason why an applicant would be denied a study permit. You don't have to apply to a university before you can receive study permit, unless you were previously studying at a university in her country. If she already has an accounting degree from her country and now intends to apply to a college in Canada, then your point might be valid. Again, not having travel history may have nothing to do with her refusal if she is young in age. Agreed, if she had travelled to Canada or US before and returned that could improve her chances. However, applicants get approved without prior travel history. My niece applied to a college after high school and she was granted her study permit. Age is a factor. If EmA123 said is still in her early twenties, her chances are higher and a student who just graduated from high school should be within that age range.

Finally, I would advise you to DESIST from counselling anyone to stay in their country and study because she has better prospects there. You have no right whatsoever to make that decision for her. Her decision to travel to Canada for better education/studies and possibly a better life is absolutely personal; no one has the right to make the call whether she should or should not study in Canada, which is a country of immigrants, whether of generations past or recent generations. Leave the individual to make such personal decisions and not be a wet blanket to other people's dreams and aspirations. She came here for encouragement and advice as a young individual who has only had high school education and is desirous of pursuing further studies abroad. She should not be discouraged from chasing her dream!
I am not trying to stop her dream but she has many points in her refusal to address & improve. I am seeing it from an officer’s perspective. Study permits are temporary visas so she has to show ties back home. Her refusal reasons were:

-personal assets and financial status: She needs to show her own funds & not have a family friend sponsor. It seems the sponsor is paying for everything.
-travel history: Has no travel history other than Germany or Italy.
-limited employment prospects in your country of residence: she submitted a letter from her sponsor that she would be hired as an accountant upon graduation. The program at Cenntenial doesn’t make you an accountant. To get an ACCA designation and become a CA, you have to complete a 3 year advanced accounting diploma & then transfer to a university to complete the program to have the ACCA designation. She didn’t say she is in the advanced three year program. Centennial College where she is admitted states that you have to transfer to Nissiping university to complete accountancy. Most likely her GCMS notes under “employment prospects” will state that there is no reason to pay $32,000 for a two year accounting program. She will not be an accountant. Therefore This program has limited prospects back home.

So if she wants to be an accountant & reach her dreams, she needs to go to A) university or B) go for the 3 year advance accounting diploma at Centennial College & transfer for year 4 & maybe 5 to Nippising university.

Here in Albania almost 80% of population has never went in America or Canada for tourism becuase the visas for Albanians are very difficult to get, only if you are a business owner. So I don’t get the reason for that refusal based in the purpose

Yes, it is difficult to get that is why if you have a visitor visa to NZ, Australia, Canada, UK or the USA it shows you have a strong profile (funds, strong ties to home country, job etc). These countries are called the “5 eyes” and they share immigration information. The countries will also know if you have been refused visas for each of these countries.

Yes, I know it is better if I would have a visa for those countries but this does not mean I dont get the study permit for this reason. I think it’s unfair.
Two girls that applied one week before me (they are sisters) got refused with identical reasons like mine. Their father is a well known businessman of a large company, which is their sponsor and the also got refused for personal assets and financial status. They have been in UK with tourism visa and they also had the reason of travel history. I don’t know what is happening in the processing office ‍♀

Funds have to be readily available. You need to show a minimum of $10,000 for expenses and pay most if not all of your first year tuition. Being a well known businessman doesn’t mean he has liquid funds available to pay for his two daughters.

Focus on you and your dreams and don’t worry about others. Figure out how to make it happen. You want to be accountant. Then apply to programs that are a pathway to the CA, CFA or CMA. The process is long and involves education, work experience and exams.

So you paid it and not your sponsor. You said a family friend was supporting your education. If you have $31,000 in your account then why is a family friend supporting you?

I paid 11,000 from my money,31,000 are from sponsor
I am working since June in his company like a receptionist, So I did volunteer work only for the money he sponsored me.
He was my only source of sponsor beacuse my family doesn’t have that kind of money, nor my other family members

How many years is your program? 2 or 3. So he put in $31,000 at one time into your account? If so, big red flag for immigration. Order GCMS notes to see the officer’s notes.

I don’t agree on this. I have travelled to USA and Australia. I have a USA visa valid till 2027 but my study permit application got refused in November 2020 as VO is not satisfied I will leave Canada on the grounds 1)family ties in Canada and country of residence 2) immigration status 3)purpose of visit. I am an Indian 39 years old applied from Kuwait. I have a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and 15 years of work experience. I applied for an MBA program in UCW. If the VO thinks I will stay in Canada illegally then why don’t I do that in USA.

When did you receive the refusal decision? I would encourage you to challenge the decision through judicial review. We did one not too long ago and the judicial review was successful. It didn’t even get to any hearing before the Department of Justice conceded. It took a while because of the pandemic, but study permit was issued in December.
Your travel history is rich. So, I don’t see justification for refusal, if all other things were in place. I know two people, one of whom I applied for. The reason the VO gave for approval was that they were well travelled.

There is nothing that you stated in your refusal about travel history. You are 39 years old and you applied to an MBA program at UCW. UCW is a private university that caters to international students. It is a college mill as anyone can get in. Employers have never heard of it. Apply to a MBA program at a public university. How does a UCW help your career in your home country? Your immigration status is based on the fact that you live in Kuwait but what is your citizenship. You need to show strong ties to your home country. Show how your career will progress in your home country, not Kuwait.

I understand, UCW doesn’t have a good reputation. Now I am preparing for GMAT so that I can apply to better universities.
I am an Indian citizen, mother of two adolescent children. In my application I have included my children too, that can be the main reason for refusal.

I applied for my study permit on 16 Oct 2020 and I received the refusal on 28 Nov 2020. Actually, I thought my SOP was not strong, so I applied once again for April 2021 intake on 20 Dec 2020. I am waiting for a decision. I have a very strong travel history. I have traveled to more than 18 countries including most of the countries in EU. And I have 15 years of work experience as a construction estimator and planner. Of which 6 years of project management and strategic planning experience. My husband is working in Kuwait since 1994 and he has a very stable job here so after 2 years of MBA I was planning to return back to Kuwait. If they are questioning my ties in country of residence it’s my husband (together for 18+ years) who is still working in Kuwait. I believe they are refusing without reviewing the application properly. If I get another rejection I would like to go for an appeal. For ties in my home country I have showed 2 properties one bought by my husband and another one a residential building, which has a registered will on my name, from my mother.
