My study permit was refused on the grounds of family ties in Canada and country of residence. I am Indian currently working in UAE. My question in particular is: how do one prove family ties in Canada? Is it mandatory for a SP applicant to have family ties in Canada to study there? But in this forum I also noticed that it actually weakens the application. So why do they refuse an application who have not demonstrated a family tie in Canada?
I only have heard from my parents that we have some distant relatives in Canada but no clue who they are and which part of Canada they live. I do have a couple of friends though (ex-colleagues) who are permanent residents and or citizens in Canada. I didn't think to mention them in my application. Do you think I should have mentioned them? Will that serve the purpose of 'family ties in Canada'? I am kind of clueless with this reason of refusal.
