Why did you choose to submit the visa request via VFS and not online? Online is faster. May people who applied in April have received their visas.
Currently, online visa is 7 weeks (it was 4 weeks when I applied). I did upfront medical and passed the medical 2 business days after application. I am expecting something this week according to the timeline. I have also dropped them a note (online technical issue form). Lets see.

I did not know that applying offline would have a longer processing time compared to applying online. If I knew, I would've done it online.

Are you Malaysian? I am trying to find out if the same timeline applies for Malaysians. I applied on 20th April, got my medical passed on 24th April and no news since then. I applied online. Visa office is Singapore.
Have you been requested to submit your police certificate?

Actually, I have attached all the required info including the police cert and upfront medical. Notarized educational docs, bank chopped statements, EPF and official translated and certified true copies of our Marriage birth certs and property docs. All this is also mentioned in cic. It is also mentioned in cic website under docs for Malaysia. What it also mentions that the processing time is dependent on your citizenship, and all the docs attached without any miss. Also on a personal note one needs to think like the visa officer. The more easy it is for him to review the docs the fate it is. Did you submit the same docs?

I didn't manage to submit my police certificate upfront. I passed my medical examination on 25th April and no news since then, so our timeline is roughly the same. I have submitted less docs than you tho, mainly because some aren't relevant to me but I did attach my IELTS result and my study plan (also known as statement of purpose)

Yes, I applied on 20th April, application received and processed the same day, application submitted on 21st, medical passed on 24th April. Here are the docs that I submitted:
- Admission letter
- Study plan with my CV
- Kids' birth certificates (official translated, and Certified True Copies), as they are coming along. I applied for a TRV, but on 4th May, CIC got back to me that I have used the wrong form and they are going to withdraw their application and provide me the refund, and asked me to apply under the study visa application for them, and also send an email to Singapore office to link their application with mine. I did it accordingly.
- Marriage certificate (official translated, and Certified True Copies)
- My husband is my sponsor so financial docs (all official translated - those that are in Malay like EPF, and Certified True Copies). EPF, house docs, 4 months bank statement, Current Employment letter with payslips and past 2 years LHDN statement. He is coming along too under OWP.
- Financial support letter from my husband
- Purpose of visit (my husband was required to provide), itinerary and first 2 month's accommodation letter from our family friend in Canada.
- Upfront medical for all of us
- Police certificate (it is actually a good conduct letter issued by Ministry of Foreign affairs)

All the above information is mentioned in the CIC website. So I fulfilled all their requirements. Praying for the best.

What do you think?

Here is more information on the processing times on CIC website.

To help avoid delays or a refusal, make sure that you:

  • carefully read the application guide for your immigration category and follow the instructions;
  • properly fill out, sign and date the application form(s);
  • include all the required documents as indicated on the application checklist;
  • pay the right fee using the correct method of payment;
  • include the payment with your application; and
  • double-check your application before submitting it.
Things that can cause delays:

  • Your medical and security screening takes longer than usual
  • We need to interview you
  • You communicate with us by mail instead of using an online account
  • You don’t respond to our requests for information quickly
  • High numbers of applications

If I apply today, do the processing times show how long it will take to process my application?
No. The processing times only show the time it took to approve or refuse 80 percent of applications during some time in the past. Processing times in the future may be different. We show processing times to give you a general idea of how long a process takes.

Alanna, are you a Malaysian? and applying from Malaysia?
Yes but since I don't come with a husband and kids, some of the documents you submitted aren't applicable to me.
Also, i think its a good sign that they are looking into our applications (judging from the response we got from them, albeit slower than the standard processing time listed on CIC website). We just have to be patient and hope for the best, nothing else can be done atm.
Which province are you going to?

I also sent them an email asking for an update. I am going to Alberta. Lethbridge to be precise. What about you?

Alanna, did you apply online or paper application? What was the reason for your choice. I went online because i believe it is faster from my research as if I am the visa officer, it is easier for me to go through the application instead of flipping papers.
