Hi I’m from Sri Lanka. I claimed for refugee at the airport as I entered CANADA. I moved here with my family due to the discrimination of racism in my country. I moved here with the few clothes and couldn’t take any of my documents as per the rules in the country. I have my hearing soon. What should I do now..? How must I be ready..?

Best to stick to what you said in your BOC, and have an answer as to why you don't have supporting documents for your case.

When did you apply?

I applied on 29th of May 2019 at the port of entry to canada. In our country back home we were not allowed to keep any evidence, if so they arrest us. Many were arrested from my area for this reason as well.

You need proof of your personal persecution or discrimination to get approved. Given your asylum application date thought I should mention that the Easter bombing is not a reason for asylum except perhaps you were at the church during the bombing. It is very important for people to plan to bring proof to support their asylum claim. Asylum claims have long term implication for both you and your extended family.

Try to get the documents from your home country or gather documents from internet, if you have lawyer ask him for details. As you said u lodge your application on May 2019, I doubt your hearing is going to be so quick, normally they change the date. So be patient and try to gather all the information and document as soon as possible.

Which date is your hearing? Is it the IRB hearing or the admissibility hearing?

Sorry to hear about that. Do you mean you were not allowed to keep documents such as your birth certificate and other legal documents with you in Sri Lanka? Do you say the government would arrest you for keeping these documents with you? Do you really think Canada would believe this utter lie?
