Hello,
i have a question regarding the visitor visa for my wife. i am a Canadian citizen and currently here in Ontario Canada. i would like for my wife to come and visit me during this pandemic. what are the chances of her being approved? is she considered immediate family and exempted from the restrictions?
we just got married jan/8/2020. i was planning to start the sponsorship but things are all delayed due to the pandemic.

She needs a TRV unless she is visa exempt. It will depend on how strong her ties are. Usually getting a spouse approved is very difficult but you never know with the pandemic they may make it easier so you should apply. In most provinces she still won’t have health coverage but will have covid coverage.

I am in the same boat. Did you apply TRV for your wife? Visa approved ?

Which one do you suggest is the best to apply for, given the timelines ?

  • visitor visa while visiting husband ? ( difficult to show ties to India )
  • visitor visa while visiting a friend ? ( not sure if these are being processed at all )
  • outland sponsorship ? ( takes more than 12 months )

I need to apply for a visitor visa for my spouse, are the applications being approved during the pandemic? also her Visitor visa was denied once pre-Covid-19 would that affect anything, also I would be applying the same in Oct once I am married, would love to hear your thoughts/inputs?

If you are married you will need to say that you are visiting her husband. Will suggest submitting sponsorship application as soon as possible.

Yes you’d be applying for the same thing after marriage. Impossible to say if CIC is being slightly more lenient when it comes to approving spouses for TRVs. Spouses are not usually granted TRVs because they aren’t usually temporary visitors.
