Just a question. After we send our spousal sponsorship application (maybe end of February), I intend to get a honeymoon with my spouse in the US. We will travel there for maybe 2 months. I am a PR in Canada.

Should my wife update her address with CIC? and How?

Will application be processed by US or Cairo visa office (where she lives now and when we apply?

Will we need an FBI police cert.?

If we get medical request in US, where should we do it?

can we get an interview request in the US later? after she goes back to Egypt??

thanks, guys.

As it is a requirement that a PR sponsor must reside in Canada for the whole time of the application process, two months "honeymoon" may be seen as unreasonable by IRCC. It would be better to defer the application until after you have returned.

I do not think CIC have the right to limit the travel of applicants, and it is vital to my personal life to see my wife. Deferring the application for another 4 months will be a very disturbing solution. If CIC wants me to reside in Canada while applying, AND ALSO needs us to see each other to make sure relationship is genuine, they should let her in on a visa then.

They do have the right to enforce the conditions for sponsorship, as enshrined in IRPA and IRPR. If those conditions are not met, they can refuse the application. Simple as that...

If she will only be in the USA for two months, as a visitor on a honeymoon, she should not update her address. Just make sure there is someone to get her mail at her address in Egypt (if that is the address she will be using). Probably nothing will be sent that will require immediate action within those two months in any case.
The application will be processed at the visa office for Cairo. She would have had to have entered the USA on a visa good for a year or more to have it processed in the USA. (I am assuming she is an Egyptian citizen; is she also a citizen of the USA?)
She only needs a FBI certificate if she has spent more than 6 months in the USA since the age of 18.
If she gets the medical request in the USA, she can do the medical at any panel physician - a doctor who is authorized to do the medical by CIC.
It is not likely they will process her application through the US office, or through Ottawa. They will likely process it through the visa office that deals with Egypt. Therefore any interview should be in Cairo.

We have submitted our application for spousal sponsorship.

Will there be issues if we are looking to travel this year? we are planning the following trips

Hong Kong
Hawaii
Las Vegas
UK

I currently have temporary worker status.

I don't want to affect my application if we aren't able to travel this year.

The conditions is residency in Canada. I do pay house rent, enrolled in a University, pay taxes, and have financial ties.

But youre not a citizen, therefore you dont have the right to leave Canada while sponsorship in effect

Instead of being upset about this, you should be thankful that Canada gave you the opportunity for you to build a life here, and also allowing someone who's not even a citizen, to sponsor their spouse

Try getting her a visitor visa to Canada and spend time here.

And remember there are people who are separated for far longer than 4 months. My wife and I were separated for almost 5 months, yet it didnt bother us one bit as we knew we would eventually be together

It's nothing to do with the applicant, it's a rule for the PR sponsor that they must reside in Canada during duration of processing.

Short/temporary vacations outside Canada are allowed. There is no specific amount of time allowed, so it's at the discretion of the visa officer if they notice you're gong long enough for them to consider you no longer residing in Canada. Odds are a 2 month vacation will not even appear on CIC's radar, but you never know. Personally I would limit trips outside Canada to a month or less at a time.

I personally don't think a two month vacation will harm your application, as long as you provide your home address, have a job here, etc. Would I risk it? Probably not, because for me wouldn't be worth the stress.
