How long does criminality and eligibility take to complete because
On my notes the medical is the only thing they have finished processing. I really don't know how much longer I have to wait now :( I don't understand what the ADVO IS DOING? THEY RECEIVED MY FILE IN MARCH! someone please help!
There's NO specific time limit for background and criminality checks. It could take between 30 to 150 days and more or less the cases are decided within 6 months.
Please send case specific enquiry to ADVO and hopefully you'll get an answer from them in 3 weeks time.

Thanks JenPen for the feedback!

I am sure some members must have out land applications and living with the spouse abroad and have had this similar questions regarding the tax documents (Notice of Assessment (NOA), T1 and T4), what could we possible provide them with?

Looking to hear more feedback..
Hi Ticallian,

First of all welcome back to the Forum - second, yes you and I share the exact timeline ;D

Now in your case, as an out-land sponsorship but not residing in Canada. A friend of mine was in the same boat as you, and I don't want to scare you here. He applied from Canada, but left right away to live with his wife in Dubai. Now down the road, I am not sure what response they got from ADVO, but they withdrew their application, came back to Canada and re applied.

In my brief conversation with him, I realized he reapplied from here, just so that when asked, he can prove that he is residing in Canada. I am not sure how smart of a move it was to withdraw application and re apply from Canada. But I strongly believe that stating your intention to the CIC is critical.

If you are not residing in Canada - you may want to show intent to return back and the biggest one of that would be a termination of employment from your present job and cancellation of your visa.
Along side as JenPin mentioned - Applying for Job in Canada, Correspondence with Real Estate , Children Education Discussion.

I have a few friends working as Immigration Lawyer - I could also ask around and see what they say.

Hello Safa.umair - Glad that you have your notes figured out. Unfortunately there is no def time line for criminal check. From what I have heard , they have upto 6 clearance check and they involve getting clearance from your Home Country and also your present residence. Hang in there, it will be over in no time.

Hello AMJ,

From your timeline it has already been a year for you - was there any other correspondence from ADVO since your ADR ?

Thanks impresso and yes I emailed them Amj, they said my file is with the officer ad is in queue for review. Is criminality, eligibility and background check the last step before passport request?

Hello friends,

I am new to this forum. I got married in dubai 15 days ago and returned to Canada yesterday. I am about to start the spousal sponsor process. According to cic website the processing time for complete application is 15 months. I would like to know has anyone received their visa approval earlier than 15 months I would also be interested to know if there are any cases that took longer than 15 months?

Thanks!!

Welcome to the Forum mzm26
Congratulations on your wedding :) I am assuming you are a Canadian PR holder and you are applying for PR for your spouse under family class sponsorship through the Abu Dhabi office.

If yes, then click on the link below to see the status and timelines of the applications in this category through Abu Dhabi office:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmTrRjKDvHemdDFBNldiNVBUY2I3OHhuOWlKTFNDOHc&usp=sharing&userstoinvite=vmjm1129#gid=0

I think the earliest someone has received their visa is 5 months but that is very rare. The average until a few months ago was around 7 - 8 months but it has slowed down a bit in the last few months. Every case is reviewed by the visa officer assigned to your file and it really depends on your application and the visa officer. All the best anyway and hope you and spouse are reunited soon, just like we are all waiting to be.

i agree with anxiouswife.. it really depends on the visa officer reviewing your application and of course the completeness of it.. that is why it's best to check everything is in order and all documents are submitted.. anyway, hope for a smooth processing for all of us..

Hello mzm26,

Congratulations and Welcome to the thread - As you prob seen from the spreadsheet, some cases are done within 5 months and some take longer, as each case is unique handled by a specific Case Officer. A few things to keep in find moving forward.

- Document All Proof of Relationship : If you had known your spouse from before, always wise to keep any email/chat/phone conversations to show prior relationship. You may also want to include tickets/boarding passes of both of you travelling together or to visit each other. If you are sending money to your spouse, you may want to keep receipts of your transaction.
- Pictures : Try to focus more on group and family pictures rather than just couple pictures, but every situation is different and you will be the best judge
- Passport Copies : When you submit your passport copies, do provide all pages , including the blank pages.
- Questionnaire : In the application forms you will find questions where both of you will have to write an "essay" on your relationship. Be as descriptive as possible, use extra papers and provide certain dates and timelines if possible.

People think that the office may not go through this essay, in fact some officers are very thorough and they take notes and compare. All the best preparing your application and let us know if you have any questions.

Dear colleagues. This is my first post on this thread.... NEED YOUR HELP !!!

My friend and his wife are permanent residents of Canada. They had a baby birth outside Canada. Now they need to sponsor baby. My friend (husband) is going back to Canada in a month or so, and keen to bring his child in Canada.. Preparing for forms and documents . HUSBAND-WIFE Both are Canadian PR holders. Baby is 7 months old as of now.
Queries :-
1) Who has to fill the form of IM0008 (Generic application form).. the husband itself or it is child who is principal applicant to enter his/her name ? (child or father ? )
2) Immigration office requested for processing application :- London visa office or Islamabad visa office ?
3) Can he apply immediately after going back to Canada or he need to have a job/employment ? Baring in mind, it is not spouse sponsorship but 7 month old child sponsorship ?
4) Confusion over sponsorship evaluation form question No 4,5,6,7... never sponsored before, wife is already PR Holder via (FSW-Not sponsorship).
5) Do you advise to submit medical examination along with application ?
6) What is the fees ? 75 + 150 = 225 CAD ?
7) What are the processing times and chances. no employment as yet, recently landed, but Parents are PR holders and child is 7 months old, no PCC/BV/SC checks would be required...

Thank you ... Awaiting reply from any Allah Ka bunda who can reply to these queries..

Hello Friends,

I am new to this Forum, would be needing help from all of u already in queue. Few questions I have, if any one would be kind enough to guide me.

1.) I am going to apply for my husband's sponsorship soon.If I travel after a week I applied and wont be in Canada for the next three months, would that be an issue?? I am a Permanent Resident.

2.) I am not working. Is it necessary that the wife has to be working??

Hi sjamshed,
If you are going away on some work and intend to return to Canada it should be fine. The only problem is if CIC need any additional documents from you which you can only submit from Canada, then that could delay your application. The sponsorship approval normally takes one month after which the file is transferred to Abu Dhabi visa office.

It is not necessary to be working, the important criteria is that you should be in Canada. But at some point they will ask the sponsored spouse to prove that the sponsor is actually residing in Canada. So at that time it helps if you are working as you can show your pay stubs and tax returns filed.

it's not really an issue but it's best to postpone it till you receive the SA as they might ask for additional document and it will cause a delay if you're not in canada.

Regarding the work, i dont think it's necessary. but it will be better if you do have coz there's a part on the form that you'll agree to support your spouse.

My personal view:

Ans 1: Once you'd duly applied for a sponsorship than you are free to move out of Canada however, you must meet the conditions/eligibility for the Spouse Sponsorship.

Ans 2: Yes. You would need to prove that you could financially support your spouse.
