Hey i have a question is there any time limit to enter Canada after receiving visa for spouse. Some one said they should travel before 60 days is that true? Or I can wait bit longer.

No it doesn't affect PR at all. You can certainly try for SOWP again.
Thanks, have decided not to apply now as the processing time is Pak is 20 ridiculous weeks. So absolutely no point, by then we are hoping PR has come thru. Such a simple thing to want to be with your spouse, it's a show of inhumanity that the process is so long and difficult.

Hi everyone, can anyone please tell me what documents, beside the Letter of Approval I received from CIC, are required upon entry to Canada to receive the work permit? I have a spousal open work permit visa. Will I need to show insurance or proof of funds etc?

Of course - it happens but there is lot behind the scenes that an average applicant wont understand.

For some body with a very strong case, SOWP can be processed in 2 months or so. I have seen many cases. But obviously, there is no telling or certainty around it. Good luck

Not really. You can enter any time before the expiry of SOWP (ideally six months before expiry).

Another possible restriction could be validity of medicals, which is one year from the day you performed those (unless you are from a country not requiring medicals).

So you should enter before expiry of medicals.

No insurance or proof of funds is needed. The single required doc is approval letter called letter of introduction.

But preferably, proof of relationship, some recent document like spouse's recent pay stub or transcript if student and address and phone number of your spouse.

I'd recommend you keep all the documents you submitted with your application with you. Just in case they ask to see anything. That's what I did when I entered on a work permit.

Hello All,

My husband and I have applied for study permit and sowp together. I wanted to check will it impact the processing time? Will we get the approval together or as per the processing time of individual permits? How long it generally takes?

We applied online from Bangalore on Nov 11. Medicals submitted in advanced and have passed status on the CIC website.

Thanks. :)

Both scenarios are possible.

Generally when you apply together, CIC tries to bundle and process application in a single go.

But this is not always possible and in particular with the case of study permits + SOWP since study permits are expected to be processed much faster.

Hence it is also possible that they issue SP sooner and SOWP might come a lot latter if approved.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell which way would it go.

Thanks, fkl. I applied on 11th Nov with upfront medicals, which were passed on 16th Nov. I haven't heard anything from CIC after that. Normal processing time for SP mentioned on the CIC website is 2 weeks. Should I be worried? Should I write to them?

You are most welcome. 2 weeks - that is fast, irrespective of visa office.

You shouldn't be worried if there is ample time in commencement of your degree program. Likely they would process both together. Only reach out once your average WP processing time is passed as well.

Hi friends

Today is a big sad day for me , I applied TRV for my wife on 21th November and today got refused letter stating two reasons 1. The purpose of visit 2. Family ties in Canada and country of resident .Officer did not do justice to us my wife had strongly planned to go back India after spending holidays .

I submitted following supporting documents with application -

Applicants' documents -

1. Educational certificates (General nursing 3 years + +2 )
2. Employment letter and leave letter from hospital
3. Bank documents
4. C.a report of property
5. Explanation letter and purpose of visit in which we mention her 30 days holiday starting from 25 dec to 25 Jan + on 23rd January we have the plan to celebrate our first marriage anniversary

documents from my side -

1. Copy of Work permit ( NOC B Welder )
2. 4 pay stubs
3. Letter from current employer
4. Invitation letter
5. Bank letter
6. C.A reports of property

My wife is also eligible for Open Work Permit. I had planning to apply O.W.P but I did the mistake I think. We also have got ITA in express entry and going to submit the application for permanent residency next week.

Guys, please suggest me what should I do now. I am planning to apply O.W.P in coming days as she meets the eligibility. We are not ready to stay apart more.

Looking forward to hearing from you all .

Thanx to everyone
