Spouse Open Work permit

Currently I am in Canada on PGWP. I got married 2 month ago back home. I am working in skill level( NOC 2). As my spouse is eligible to apply for SOWP, is that same documents required to meet eligibility. Can you forward me list of doc if other than that. Can i apply online from inside canada while my spouse is in India or my wife have to apply online or by paper to vfs. I am not sure can you help me out with that..Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

And when i check my status on cic website by my application number it sayz "open" , and also

"Your application for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) has been received.
A review of your file is underway. Information on the status of your eTA will be
emailed to you within 72 hours".

I have no clue what this is,,

Hii, I have the same issue... I have submitted online my husband's application on 5th november. medical passed on 11th november. Now in the other section of application status it shows the same message as urs. Dont understand what this 72 hours criteria stands for. His visa was earlier rejected in november 2015. reason was lack of fund and purpose of visit. God knows what does it means. we had shown strong evidence. An ties to India was his parents and our 2 year old daughter. God knows what the result will be this time. My study permit vl expire in April 2017. exact 6 mnth v have. this time we have also applied with an employment offer letter from an employer. So to convince the visa officer that he will have a job immediately after he lands. Fingures crossed. Really tensed and nervous. Everything now epends on luck and Gods grace. God Bless All.

Hi everyone! I got my SOWP today. My spouse is a student. I applied from Islamabad, Pakistan. Below is my timeline:

Application submitted: 13th June
Medical request: 7th October (sent CSE as I had submitted upfront medical)
Medical Passed: 16th October
Approval email: 14th November
Passport received: 15th November

My application was processed in Abu Dhabi and the passport was also stamped in Abu Dhabi.

I hope my experience can give hope to those applying from Pakistan.

Earlier it was paper based application. And we only got the tracking no. that time v werent aware of eta and linking application. Eta is not need for Indians. then y they are processing it i have no idea.....waiting......

Below are my timelines:

1st Attempt:
We applied for Study permit(myself) and SOWP on May13th 2016 initially from vfs delhi.
Study permit got approved but SOWP got refused on 22nd July 2016.

2nd Attempt:

We applied again for my spouse - SOWP on 19th Aug 2016 , paper based application from Vfs delhi with upfront medicals:

Application Date : 19th Aug 2016
Application Location : Vfs Delhi
Spouse location : India
Medical : Upfront ( Passed) - 22nd Aug
Result : 4th Oct 2016

Though we have not received any email yet from cic but the portal this time says "Approved" and case is closed.

My only suggestion to everyone would be don't rely completely on ur lawyers and consultants so much.

I did that mistake first time and got rejected. But during our 2nd attempt we filled the visa on our own and it got thru

I have applied for sowp on 17th oct 2016 with upfront medicals at pune vfs (paper based application ) my application shows being processed after tracking. I also tried to link my account GCkeys cic but it shows no matches found ! Plz anyone can help with processing time?
Earlier I had applied for trv but it got refused twice ! I'm worried about my sowp application ! Hope everything goes well this time !

My wife is the Principal applicant got work permit and joined recently.
What are the documents I have to produce for my SOWP.

Following documents are enough?

1 My wife two salary slip
2 PNP nomination expired so Is it required to produce Acknowledge of receipt (PR) mail ?
3 My bank statement( How much amount required?)
4 Marriage certificate(We both together applied for PR so is it required?)

I am glad to inform that my husband received his SOWP approval yesterday.
I thank everyone in this forum who was helpful in making this happen.

Below is our timeline:
Applied for SOWP : 11th Oct 2016
Paper based Bangalore VFS with pre medical done.
Medicals Passed : 15th Nov 2016
Approval letter received : 16th Nov 2016
Passport will be collected today.

Yes since your NOC group is A, (because of second digit being 1 in NOC code), your dependents are eligible. You could have applied together as well.

Though you are narrow on dependent age limit. I am not sure if its 18 or 21. But you have to look that up on cic website.

Hello everyone, thanks for all the information that everyone has shared on this forum. I got visa few days ago and would like to share my details so that it can help others.

My wife applied for student visa, she got visa in 10 days, I applied for open work permit after she got visa and got it in around 14 days.

We had a profile in express entry which we had withdrawn before applying for student visa. Our CRS score was 379. We had also mentioned this clearly in the student visa application that we had created an express entry profile earlier and had withdrawn it shortly. Don’t hide any information. Stay true.

Main Applicant details, (my wife, she applied for student visa)

Qualification: BCA and MCA

No Backlogs.

Job Experience: 1 year experience as a Software Developer.

Martial Status: Married

Age: 26 years old.

IELTS Score:

Listening 8.0
Reading: 6.0
Writing: 5.5
Speaking: 7.0

Overall Band Score: 6.5

Applied for 1 year course in Mobile Application development for Jan 2017 Intake.

Yes, that strengthen your case and won't require your spouse's job to be skilled i.e. NOC 0,A or B. Ideally one should attach both (proof of skilled job offer as well as provincial nomination - and AOR if it expired)

3 My bank statement( How much amount required?)
If your spouse has a skilled job and appropriate salary, you are not required to show any funds. Since you already applied for PR you must have shown far more funds jointly. You might refer to the same proof of funds again, just to strengthen your case. Again that is not a requriement

4 Marriage certificate(We both together applied for PR so is it required?)
YES. Work permit processing doesn't take any thing for granted from PR. I believe you are in home country, so you need to prove more than that. If marriage is recent and no kids, you better provide additional proof than just certificate like photos, shared accounts, logs of regular interaction / contact etc.
You should also attach any educational and work experiences you have. This last thing alone will determine your ties to home country. Otherwise even with every thing else being good, CIC can very well refuse your SOWP saying they are not satisfied with your ties where you might have to wait until your PR process is completed. So don't take this part lightly. Good luck
