Spousal Visa or Conjugal Partnership

My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship for almost 2 years now. I am a Canadian citizen. He is a Filipino student in Australia. We have applied for his visit visa last year but was denied twice. I was wondering if conjugal applicatoin is a better option for us. I have read that in order to qualify for a couple to be conjugal partners, there should be a barrier that would hinder them to live together. His visit visa being denied would already be a barrier. However, there is an option for me to travel to Australia so we can marry there. If I don't consider exploring this option, the immigration will deny the conjugal application. Am I correct on this insight? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

If you are Canadian why can’t you go to Australia and get married. What is your immigration barrier for conjugal as Canadian citizen.

IMHO, you are correct.

Because you can travel to be with/marry him, you should focus on that option.

No barrier actually. Just didn't think of it when I went to visit him last year. We were still exploring options of me trying it out there but after weighing things last year we want to be together where we are more secure. Since we are both single, too that would be the best option. I will push through with the plan then. Thank you for the reply

What do you do? Can your career / study requirements be considered as a hinderance for you to take off for sometime - for marriage?

IMHO, you are correct.

Because you can travel to be with/marry him, you should focus on that option.

Financially, we are tight at the moment and I would have wanted it to be not rushed and more family present. But for the sake of wanting to be together, we will use this option. Thank you for the reply.

You can get married in any jurisdiction you like, really - obviously if that jurisdiction will allow you to get married. Shouldn't make much difference, but in the event that it may be easier for you to meet somewhere else and get married.

That was initially the option, to get married here in Canada since my family is here but since he can't get a visit visa, we will have to do the civil wedding then. Thank you so much for the validation. Just needed the assurance.

Depending on your age IEC may be an option if you wan to live in the same country and date for a while before getting married as long as your partner can extend his WP.
