29 days after we sent the application to Mississauga,we received the email with the application number, UCI number etc.
Normally it is in a month or so. Did you receive a notification from the courier that the documents have arrived?

To qualify for the open work permit she has to sponsor you for PR using the inland process. In order to sponsor you using the inland process, both of you must travel to Canada to submit the application (i.e. you must both be in Canada to qualify to apply inland). If you submit the open work permit application with the PR sponsorship application, the OWP will be approved approximately four months later. So to go this route, you need to be prepared to come to Canada and not work for at least four months.

There must be loads of people in my situation, does everyone just Take the hit and not work for half a year? I am in the pool for a holiday working visa but there aren't many left so that not looking likely. Can we start the app prior to us living together 12 months. If we started both in Canada could I then return to U.K and work until it came through?

I have a question about certified copy of the original documents (Birth certificate and wedding certificate) I have to send because the original document is in spanish.

Where can I get the copy certified ? In Canada ? Or in the country (or the embassy) of the original documents ?

It's really a personal choice. Some people take the hit and come to Canada and apply inland knowing they won't be able to work for several months. If you apply inland, you have to remain in Canada. You can't leave Canada for several months and wait for the OWP to be approved from outside of Canada. Some apply outland (which would allow you to remain in the UK and work there until PR is approved). There is no OWP with outland - you can only work once the entire process has been completed. Again, really a personal choice.

Yes - you can apply prior to 12 months provided you get married first. If you don't plan to get married and will be applying as common law, you need to wait the full 12 months. If you apply even a day early, the application will be refused since you won't meet the definitely of common law.

Depending on which country you choose, will determine what is specifically required and the instructions for the documents.

For example, my spouse is from Costa Rica and his documents were in spanish therefore it was required they were government-certified not just certified (there's a difference). There is only one place where we could get this done (Authentication Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). So just double check with that. Otherwise, if they just need to be certified any Notary Public can do that.

I moved from Scotland to Canada in September, I haven't worked since August last year, due to issues with my Application I haven't yet received my OWP and haven't worked in over 6 months. As long as you have sufficient savings and hobbies its not a long time to wait.

No im not using representative neither someone else. Just the sponsor (me) and the PA (my husband), but we are using same email address both for PA and sponsor.
