Hi Folks,

I am an FSW2014 and am expecting my visa & COPR sometime next month or so.I am likely to be married
sometime early next year, probably after I get my visa.I have the following questions:

1.) Will my spouse be able to travel with me on visiting visa?

2.)Would you encourage applying for visiting visa before marriage or after marriage.
I heard it's difficult for spouse to get visiting visa if husband has a PR?

3.) Is there a chance that when she applies as PR as a dependent her application may
be hampered?

4.)Would she be eligible to apply for student visa incase visiting visa doesn't work?

I would appreciate if you could provide answers to above questions

When my husband brought in his passport to Santo Domingo embassy, he received it back the same day at 3pm. So I wouldn't expect them to have his passport for long, unless you had to redo a medical exam or waited to pay the RPRF later in the process instead of right away.

Additional Family info

Hi We are in a process of submitting an application my husband is sponsoring me, i just want to clarify. In the checklist its mentioned there that each of your family members 18 years of age must complete their own form. My question is do they need to fill up the form even though they are not included in the application?

Which form are you talking about completing? There multiple forms in the Check list.

IF you are taking about the "Additional Family info" the principal applicant and anyone coming with them into Canada over the age of 18 need to fill it out.

If you list your mom / dad / sister / brother but THEY ARE NOT coming to Canada with you then they DO NOT need to fill out any forms.

Try to copy your name in Chinese somewhere else, Im sure you can and than paste it into the form on the section required.

Additional Family Info

Write "Not applicable" in the children section and yes you have to add your brothers and sisters even step sisters and stepbrothers name.
Hey thanks alot,
i am stuck here with the number of pictures when they ask for the proof. maximum/minimum how many pictures of my wedding, honeymoon etc, do i send to them? is there is any specific pictures size they require for?

That's only asking about if you are a PR or Naturalized Citizen to provide your UCI from that case for them.
If you are one of those I would suggest calling CIC in order to see if they would be able to give you that information
If you are not I would just write N/A in that space.
What if that space is blank can the application be returned to you? I mean i am naturalized citizen so they have my UCI number too right?

It likely will not be, but it all depends on the officer you have.
As I said I'd call CIC, they would probably still have the number on file to be able to give that to you. I don't think they'd give you a hard time, and if you need to just explain that you need it to fill out a form for sponsoring your spouse.

You should have your UCI no on permanent resident card or if you have your landing papers.. it an 8 digit number and starts with a letter.. For example B12345678, and it can be with or without dash.

Right now the wait time for stage 1 approval is in fact 14 months. After stage 1 approval you qualify for an open work permit.

It's a crime for Canada to process anything that slowly.

Hi All,

I submitted my application for spousal sponsorship in Canada in Sept 2014. I am the sponsor and my husband is the applicant. I have heard back from CIC today and they have asked me to send them proof of my residence (in the form of lease agreement, employment letter etc) by 24th Feb. They have also written to my husband today, saying that in order to continue processing his application, they need more details on our relationship and how it developed. Again by 24th Feb.

My question is, does this mean, they have already reviewed my application as a sponsor and my husbands' application as the applicant? The reason I ask is, my understanding was that first my profile will get evaluated as a sponsor (Stage 1- 14 months) and once that is done, my husbands' profile will get evaluated (Stage 2).

Hope somebody has an answer to this :)

Thank you very much!
