Why they do an interview?
If they have questions or concerns about the genuineness of your relationship/marriage.

How to request to cic for my papers to be process in CPp- OTTAWA?
There is question in the outland application form that asks what office you want for processing.
Also you should include a cover letter that explains why it's important that processing and any potential interview is done in Canada, due to your work permit here.

hello

I'm preparing all the useful documents to apply for PR in Canada under family sponsorship.
i almost got everything but i don't have a police clearance from where i used to live. is it really necessary or not?
the story is i'm a citizen of Mongolia, i left Mongolia on 2005 that time i got a police check from Mongolia, then i lived in Vietnam for 7 years, after that i arrived here for visitors visa.

the question is do i need a police check from Vietnam?
Yes you do

With an inland application, you were supposed to have mailed your application for Open Work Permit along with your inland PR app. Then the OWP would have been processed automatically at same time as stage 1 approval. Also the app for OWP is what gives you "implied' status in Canada. So if you didn't submit it, then unless you have a valid study/work/visitor visa already, technically you are in Canada illegally.

So you should definitely apply for OWP as soon as you get acceptance letter for stage 1 approval.

Time now to wait is anytime up to 8 months. Some people get quicker than that, and some longer, since all cases are different.
Hi, I applied in-land spouse sponsorship and was submitted my application on aug 2013 and that time I didn't know I have to submit the OWP at the same time.
I called CIC today and they said they have changed the rule that they will no longer granted you a OWP. They said I have to apply either work permit or as a visitor after they have approved the first stage.

Please advise.

Degi, if you have been in Canada for more than a year I heard someone say you can request to submit just the RCMP clearance.
The official line though is you need a police clearance from anywhere you lived for more than six months. In pretty sure as you were there for 7 years and it wasn't that long ago, that they will require this of you. Sorry. I'm sure it's a huge pain. If you want to check on the other thing, it's worth doing, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Best to check at the Vietnamese embassy on how to get it and how long.

Your Mongolia police check from 2005 is not valid anymore. Police checks submitted with the application must be less than 3 months. So if you were 18 or over when you left Mongolia in 2005, you will need to get a new one from there.

You must also get a Vietnam police check.

There is no need for a Canadian check, as that is only done upon specific request from CIC.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp#police_cert
You and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens must provide:

valid police certificate, or
police clearance, or
record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

Note: If you or your family members were under 18 years of age (16 years of age in certain jurisdictions) for the entire time you lived in a particular country, you do not need to provide a police certificate for that country.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three (3) months prior to submitting your application. If the original certificate is not in English or French, then you will need to submit both the certificate and the original copy of the translation prepared by an accredited translator.

That's whati thought. Rob since you're checking, I have a question. Police check has to be within 3 mo of application but it's good for one year also correct? Someone asked me and I didn't know

I think you have one year to request the police certificate from your local embassy, but once you do get it then it's 3 months.

Regarding the return of ones passport from a Canadian visa office, do I have to contact the courier company to pick up my passport from their office or does the Canadian visa office return my passport if i paid already for its return. B/c I got this email from the visa office today, "We are pleased to inform you that your application has been approved. Please contact a courier company or come to our offices in Dakar for the withdrawal of your passport and documents".

Dear all
i received an email from the embassy today asking for the sponsor `s questionnaire form we already sent it before why they request it again?also they said that Please provide the above by latest March 16, 2014. If nothing has been received from your end by this date, we shall proceed to the final assessment of your case based on the information/documents already on file. As the required documents are directly related to the final assessment to be made on this application, failure to provide it within the deadline above could lead to its refusal.
what is that mean?i didn't pay the right of permanent yet and they didn't ask to pay it.and in this form there is a question about proofs of intention of the sponsor to return Canada shall i submit the same proofs again or more?actually we don't have another proofs we sent all we have we sent a letter from his sister showing that she knows our intention to move should we submit a photocopy from this letter or ask her to provide another one?also a reactivated royal bank account and some job searching from internet..... please help me
thanks in advance

I just submitted my application, and the criminal record check was done on October 31, 2013, I submitted the application on February 1, 2014, and it should have arrived there on February 5. A little more than 3 months. Should we submit another one that would go to the appropriate visa office?
