You should wait for applying for the open work permit. Chances are that you could receive permanent residence before your 2 years is expired, at which point you wouldn't need an open work permit.

Also, depending on your situation, it seems you might be applying for permanent residency under Inland status. Undestand that you cannot leave Canada during this time or your application will be void and will have to start over. Fellow form members, please advise if I'm incorrect about this.

If you must leave Canada during the processing of your application, it would be best to apply outside Canada. This means your country of origin VO (Visa Office) will handle all aspects of your application once your application leaves Vegraville.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I know we will apply for inland. Do you think before i finish my contract here i can already receive my permanent residency status? Here's my another question, one of the requirement of visa officer is for me and my husband to live together how can i do that if i live at my employer house because i'm a live in caregiver. How this gonna work?

If you apply inland, then you MUST live with your spouse/sponsor during the processing time. If CIC finds out you are not living together, they will simply cancel your inland application. It does not matter what the reason is for not living together, and they have done this before for people living apart due to work.

For this reason alone, if you intend to continue living at your employers home, then you have no choice but to file an OUTLAND application.

If you apply inland, you will be able to apply for an OWP only after AIP/stage 1 approval, which is currently taking around 9 months after you apply.

I don't see why you can't just apply outland. It seems much easier in your case.

If I apply outland then I need to go back to my home country right?

No, only if an interview is required. If no interview needed then you can stay in Canada during entire processing time.

In fact as a Canadian resident for over 1 year, you could even ask to have your outland application processed in CPP-Ottawa, with any interview being held in Canada also (although the final decision on location of outland processing is up to CIC).

I just want to ask again because i'm still confused. I'm under a live in caregiver program at my 8 months already. My fiance and I are getting married on may after that his going to sponsor me. If he sponsor me do i need to leave my current employer right away or just continue working while processing our application and wait for first approval. Both of us live in ontario but i live at my employer's house during the weekdays then go to his place on weekend. What can you advise for us. And best thing to do. Thanks

The advise is the exact same.

To do an inland app, you must cohabit with your sponsor in Canada. By living at your employers home 5 out of 7 days per week, this is NOT cohabiting. So CIC could cancel your inland app at any point during processing if they determine this.

Also if you do inland app, you can't get an OWP until after AIP/stage 1 which is usually around 9 months after submitting the app.

Since your current visa is good until 2016, you should submit an OUTLAND app. You can request it is processed through CPP-Ottawa, but it may get processed based on visa office that serves your home country. With an outland app, you do NOT need to cohabit with your spouse, and you can remain in Canada working for your current employer during the processing. A typical outland app is usually done in around 1 years time, then you will have full PR and can do whatever you want.

Do you think the best way for me is to finish my contract at my employer then apply on my own for OWP and PR? Which one will be the fastest. Under live in caregiver or spouse sponsorship?

No, as i've said you should apply OUTLAND as soon as you get married. During the outland processing you can continue to work at your current employer, and your full PR will probably be completed before your current work contract even ends.

What if they require an interview outland or for landing how it gonna work if I'm here and my country is in the philippines. Or just leave my current employer and be with him?

hello

I'm preparing all the useful documents to apply for PR in Canada under family sponsorship.
i almost got everything but i don't have a police clearance from where i used to live. is it really necessary or not?
the story is i'm a citizen of Mongolia, i left Mongolia on 2005 that time i got a police check from Mongolia, then i lived in Vietnam for 7 years, after that i arrived here for visitors visa.

the question is do i need a police check from Vietnam?

If you request CPP-Ottawa for processing and CIC actually send your app to Ottawa, any interview would be in Canada.
If CIC sends your app to Manila then any potential interview would be in Manila, but the chance of having to do an interview is usually very low.

When you get PR and need to do landing, you can just drive to the closest USA land border.

Why they do an interview?
