Hi all,

I am a Canadian citizen (recently became one) marrying an Indian in India soon. When I get my marriage certificate in India, it will have my Indian address mentioned as my current address. (this is because it is easier to get my marriage certificate in India with my Indian ID documents). Will this be an issue when applying to sponsor my spouse PR?

No reason to believe it will affect applications in process - at least for spousal and child sponsorship.

I've seen the government's projections, and there is only a modest reduction each year in 'family reunification.' These are mostly made up of estimates, i.e. how much demand/how many they actually can physically process.

The reductions 2025-2027 are about ~7k less a year, each year (less than a 10% reduction).

My guess is that there are two things going on that account for the majority of this reduction:
1) Fewer applications for spousal sponsorship because mainly of the reduction in the number of temporary residents (primarily students/temp workers). Both groups naturally are going to have a fair number of marriages/etc (i.e. to PRs and citizens) that turn into spousal sponsorships. Fewer of them, fewer spousal apps.
2) If there is going to be any government decision to reduce (actively) approvals/targets in family reunification, it's going to be mostly in PGP (and possibly to a lesser degree lonely Canadian). Easily accomplished here in delaying announcement of any new groups/invitations and cutting the number of invitations issued.

Overall the reduced PR targets are going to be felt most by refugee apps (that has been announced), and (if I'm right) those hoping for PGP program increases.

But overall more has been made of this announcement than it deserves, the bigger news has been in the temporary resident space.

Everyone receives the pre arrival, whether their application are rejected or completed. Wait a bit more, the decision should be made soon and you'll get an email.

one more quick question in regards to income docs - i am sponsoring my wife.

I can get Emp. letter and T4 along with payslips but i don't have NOA so my question is -- Is NOA mandatory ? or Emp. letter, T4 along with payslips & bank letter (stating the funds i have ) is enough?

thanks you!

NOA or income statement is required, include a letter to explain if you can’t provide
all of these are mentioned clearly in the checklist

I am a Canadian citizen. Last month Sep, I got married to an Indian citizen who is residing and working in UAE and we have a legal UAE marriage certificate which we also further got attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign affairs. The marriage certificate is all in English. However, It is not attested by either Indian or Canadian consulate(s).

Now I am back in Canada(Calgary) and she is currently visiting me here. I am in the process of applying for her Canadian PR(inland application) through the spousal sponsorship immigration. Does our UAE attested marriage certificate suffice for her spousal PR application??

Please share your experience or guide me in the right direction in regard to the steps for this whole process!

Thank you in advance!

Generally docs that are english language in the original do not require further attestation, a copy is sufficient. However you must check the country specific requirements to confirm no special instructions re: UAE docs.

I don't know what you mean by UAE 'attested.' If it's issued by UAE, that's an official UAE document.
