Will this be a problem in the interview, my parents wrote a letter that they will support us in the meantime.. What are your thoughts?

Normally an interview is about the legitimacy of the relationship, not your ability to sponsor. While there are certain things that would cause them to revoke your sponsorship approval (e.g., a conviction for domestic violence) the fact you are currently studying wouldn't normally be a factor they would consider.

So I would suggest making sure your spouse is very well prepared for the interview because that is really what's going to matter. I see in some case with an interview, if the VO decided the relationship is genuine the PPR comes quickly after the interview.

Good luck!

Dear experts! Leon and other guys! I need your knowledge on the question about welfaire for sponsored person. If the sponsor is getting social assistance for old age and is 77 and sponsored person is getting separated now, and is 84 y.o, can the sponsored get a welfaire before the sponsorship of 3 years is finished, or the sponsor has to repay the welfaire from 1280 $ of the social assistance for old age. Quebec residents. Thank you in advance!

It is very easy to "over think" this process. Basically, there's 60,000 applications pending at CIC and three people processing them. OK, I exaggerate, they have a part-timer as well...

It's a terrible process, because it's such a "big life changing event" sort of thing and there's very little control over it. But when it comes together it can do so quickly and suddenly it's all over. I'm lucky, because that's what happened to me. One week ago today I wasn't sure where anything was, and in a matter of three days it all came together. Now I'm just patiently waiting for that part-timer to print out my COPR and mail it and my passport back.

Good luck! It really will be over eventually.

hahahha you made my night! You're right, the part-timer should possibly consider turning into a full-timer.. too bad the "big life changing events" of "other people" is not important to CIC... there is no need to upgrade into a full-timer. After all they don't have to miss their spouse, who cares about other people.

I just hope to see October 16 done and over it and to re-unite with my husband, before this process I did not know what the definition of "torture" was...

thanks for the encouragement! and hope your spouse lands soon.

Hi Everyone

I am new to this and I have a question.

I applied to sponsor my husband. the application was received April 2nd. We received a letter that the application was received and is in process. We received another letter last month saying the file was transferred to the Vancouver office. Now we have an interview scheduled for next week. I am very worried I do not know what this means. My husband is out of status and we have a new baby.

Does anyone have any experience with this situation or knows what this means?

Good luck to you as well - and I'm the spouse who will be landing (passport is in LA awaiting issuance of the COPR). After 39 months of this I'm ready for it to be over.

Inland sponsorship currently shows as 8 months for AIP.

Normally, for Inland sponsorship you hear from CIC three times if there is nothing wrong:

(1) When the sponsor is approved (AIP and OWP)
(2) When the applicant is approved
(3) By the local office to schedule landing

People from February 2012 are currently reporting they are receiving AIP. If you applied in June it will be a while before you hear something - probably early next year.

Yes, you can sponsor your wife without a job. There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor a spouse.

What immigration will be concerned about is:

1) That your relationship is genuine and not for immigration purposes

2) That you did not live together as a couple for 12 months or more before you landed as a PR because that would have obligated you to include her in your application, made you guilty of misrepresentation and made you ineligible as a dependent of your father.

3) That you will not end up on welfare. If you are a student, there is no reason to think that. You will at some point graduate and start to work.

I have a few questions about applying inland for pr in canada. I wasnt sure but now i know the spouses have to live together before they apply. When exactly do you do medicals? Will immigration tell you or do you do it after you have applied for pr? Can i print the forms out and fill it with a pen or will this cause problems. I am planning to apply for pr in december. Married to a canadian and very confused. Thanks :(

Good Morning All:

I'm new here so just browsing and looking for information.

Sent in Sponsorship + Outland Application on May 28th, 2012.
Received by CIC on June 4th, 2012
Request for Additional Evidence (I forgot ONE signature and they sent my ENTIRE app back) on July 31st
Re-sent application with signature on August 22nd
Received by CIC according to Canada Post August 23rd

Have not heard a peep since. Is this normal? :'(
