One more Silly Question, (and thanks for all the help!)

So We're submitting the sponsorship application this weekend, so I know I'd be under implied status until the application is approved/denied. My Visitor Visa expires May 2025 -would there be a point to renew it? I was thinking of paying to renew it early because if I can get a visitor visa that shows that it expires in MORE than 6 months now- I can get my BC license. If I don't, they will provide me a non photo paper licence since my visa expires in less than 6 months.

I don't have OWP and The wait times right now are 120 days. Any suggestions if I should just wait for the AOR and apply for an OWP or if I should attempt to renew my VisitorVisa once more time?

If you've made any mistakes (or even if IRCC makes a mistake) and your application is returned, then you will be out of status and ineligible for the OWP (although you could apply for renewal of status). So my view is that it does make sense to apply for extension.

When you apply for the extension you should make it clear that you've already submitted the spousal app (they do sometimes refuse those who've extended already - but my understanding is renew almost automatically for those with a pending spousal app).

Luckily I definitely haven't had any issues with reapplying for my extensions which has been such a lifesaver. It seems that's the safest route. Getting that BC License would be a HUGE help as well.

Every once in a while it comes up here, that someone's been in Canada for a while and done [x] extensions with no problem, and then all of a sudden they get a refusal (months later of course meaning already out of status).

And usually the circumstances are they've been planning to submit the spousal app and haven't got around to it.

just a correction, you are not under implied status with the sponsorship application
it's your responsibility to maintain your legal temporary status until you get your eCOPR which confirm your PR status

Thanks for the correction, I must have read something wrong. I will make sure I keep my status all good and clear :)

Submitting the sponsorship application does NOT give you implied status. You won't have implied status until you submit the OWP application after you get AOR. Apply to extend your visitor status.
