I have applied spousal PR for my wife (outside Canada) in May 2020. No updates yet. Does anyone have clue if they started processing spousal PR again or not! As CIC mentioned they will re-start the process from October.

If u have not yet received aor yet, u can try and call ircc and see if they have assigned temporary application number.
I'm sorry but I dont know. Maybe someone else will be able to help u. try joining 2020 spousal grps in the forum or fb spousal sponsorship grps even whatsapp chats.Thank you for your response. As you mentioned, I tried calling but they ask for file number to proceed and that's what exactly I haven't gotten yet. Is there any other way to get some kind of light on this?

Yes you can just tell the agent you have not received a file number however you have all other information (sponsor name, dob, country of birth, pa name, dob, country of birth) and they can look up the file. They might ask you to verify your address as wellI'm sorry but I dont know. 1. No issues. A Canadian citizen sponsor doesn’t need to be present in Canada throughout the application process, unlike permanent resident sponsors.Hi all! I have a few questions regarding my PR application. My husband is a Canadian citizen and I am an American citizen. We applied Outland, while I am residing in the States and he is in Canada.
1. He is just heading home after visiting me in the States for the past 4 months. Will we have any issues with our application, since he stayed here so long? He still have ties to Canada (has an apartment/pays rent and a job in Canada).
2. Can I now visit him in Canada for an extended time (not over 6 months), while we await my PR?
TIA!
Thank you so much for the insight! Super helpful.1. No issues. A Canadian citizen sponsor doesn’t need to be present in Canada throughout the application process, unlike permanent resident sponsors.
2. Yes. As long as you are admissible into Canada (criminal record, etc.) You could even visit for over 6 months. This is called dual intent. You technically need to convince the border officer that you’ll return to the US if your status expires but in our experience they’ll basically wave you in. Note you can ask for more than 6 months at border or later apply for an extension while in Canada. Also keep in mind the present quarantine obligations when you come in.
Well, only to say that we flew in with 3 kids in tow and 8 suitcases, and presented our sponsorship approval letter. Basically he just said we’ll almost certainly be done before the 6 months are up anyway and stamped her passport (unfortunately not done, thanks Covid and Quebec!). No questions or concerns at all even though we were obviously truly moving. I think coming from the USA helps a lot with this. As always at the border your mileage may vary.Thank you so much for the insight! Super helpful.
What do you mean by "they'll basically wave you in"?
Also, have you tried to ask for more than 6 months at the border or applied for an extension while in CA?
Awesome, thank you for elaborating!! Huge help.Well, only to say that we flew in with 3 kids in tow and 8 suitcases, and presented our sponsorship approval letter. My wife applied for a visitor extension in June and although we haven’t even heard back yet, just the act of applying gives "implied status" meaning that she's still in status here.
