Since we are applying for outside application, and my wife lives here with me. She needs to provide proof of her intention of re-establishing in Canada.
She lived in Israel since 13 years old, and she recently went back to Canada, did her license and studied a few courses, plus she worked for couple months so she also has pay stubs. She can ask for a letter from her mother that lives in Canada saying that her mother can support us once we will arrive till we get our on place - does her mother needs to sign it and mail it? Or it can be simple, just printed. Also if we present saving, would that help?

It would be great if she could sign it, if not then print the email header to show it is coming from her. Proof of savings to assist with your short to medium term establishment is a great idea since neither of you is currently established in Canada.

Put something current, such as the date you sign the application.

Hi Leon, Charlie it's me again. I just want to ask in terms of providing a strong case on our relationship when we apply. My bf and I met online and he has been here in the Philippines (2x) and I've been to Canada. We've met each other's family and friends so I have no problem with showing pictures. We also have emails with each other, although not that many since we skype everyday and I can also print our conversations over facebook plus the wedding pics and marriage certificate, etc. I want to ask if you think it's a strong enough proof considering we've been together for less than a year?

My wife is a dual Canadian/US citizen who was approved as my sponsor in December (we're September applicants). She lives and works in New York (with me) and has not lived in Canada for about 20 years. All we had for proof of intention to establish in Canada were the names of a few co-ops we'd contacted in Toronto and a notarized letter explaining that we intended to find jobs and move as soon as I received my PR.

i want to sponsor my husband and require an option c form. for the last year i paid the tax but according to canada revenue agency i have to pay more 1200 dollars and for that i had send them a notice of objection and now they have appointed an appeals officer to look into the matter. now what should i do ? the amount owing will it effect in sponsoring my husband ? or should i pay that amount ? please help me .

Hi everyone:

We're almost finished gathering the documents for my Egyptian husband's PR application, but I'm a bit nervous about *my* eligibility to sponsor him. I got back to Canada a month ago after spending eight months in Egypt. During those eight months, I made maybe $1,200 CAD teaching English at an NGO, and now I'm back in Canada looking for a job. But I'd actually really really like to go back to Cairo to do private tutoring until my husband gets his visa, because it's very hard being away from him. According to the website:

In order to sponsor, you must...
prove that you have sufficient income to provide basic requirements for your spouse or common-law partner's dependent children. To do this, you must provide documents showing your financial resources for the past 12 months. This requirement applies only when dependent children who have dependent children of their own are included on the application.

We don't have dependent children, *but* I still have to supply my employment status and my financial history for the past 12 months on the Sponsorship Evaluation form.

Speaking from your own experience (*not* quoting from the CIC website):

a) Is it likely that our application will be rejected if I marked "unemployed" on the Sponsorship Evaluation form, when I only made $1,200 in the past nine months? (*However, during the year previous to that, my salary was above the minimum necessary income to sponsor 2 persons, if we had dependent children.) Should I wait until I find a job in Canada before submitting the application?

b) If I decide to fly back to Cairo right after submitting our application in Canada, will that look bad? Would it be safer to remain in Canada during the 56 day sponsorship evaluation period? Or it doesn't really matter, as long as I keep my address and contact info updated? I know they send the sponsor results by mail, but I could just have one of my parents open the letter.

I am also unemployed and sponsoring my common law partner. I have been told by many different people on here as well as CIC that being unemployed does not affect the decision at all. As long as you are not receiving benefits like welfare etc.

I was going to wait until I was employed to send my application, but CIC told me it makes no difference and I can't wait forever (it's a really tough job market) to send the application

b) I have also heard that it is best to stay in canada until the sponsorship is approved, but i'm not 100% on that. someone else might know?

hi there, i'm glad i came across this forum. my question is that,i'm a refugee climant and my pr got approved in oct 2010 and til date i didnt get my pr card yet. i applied for my pr card in nov 2010.my pr is still in process while i got married in cotonou somtimes last year. i called the immigration as soon as i got married and i was asked to submit an application to sponsor my spouse as soon as possble which is about to be sent in couple of days. does that mean both pr cards will be processed same time and hw soon do u think it gonna come? thank u for ur quick response.

Thanks so much figgy, that's a huge relief!! I completely agree, the job market is terrible right now

Does anyone else have experience with b)? For instance, if I could supply a letter showing that I'd been accepted to go back to school in Canada in September 2012, would it be risky to plan to spend from May-August in Egypt, after I'd been approved to sponsor my spouse?

Hi I have another question, on the medical examination it says all family members should pass the examination. I am being sponsored by my wife and we are young and recently married (no children) it means I am the only one who needs the medical exam? I was thinking that maybe they reffering to my mom as well or my dad.

In this case "family" refers to the applicant and any dependent children. If you have none, then it's just you. Where requirements for immigration are being asked (medicals, police certificates etc), only the applicant and any dependent children are referred to by "family". Check the form you are working on. If it's not the IMM 5406 (additional family information), then it's only referring to the person/persons emigrating.

Its been a year since I applied for spousal sponsorship,did not recieve any response except acknowledgement letter.My wife is preagnant her due is in April,2012.How do I wake up these ppl who employed and sleeping in CHC-Islamabad office. Tongue

There are new spousal sponsorship forms on CIC site forms in July,2011..And I heard whoever filled old spousal sponsorship forms before july,2011 they got to fill up new spousal sponsorship forms which are on CIC site now.

IS IT TRUE,DO ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT IT??
