Hi everyone,

I'm about to send my application today but I noticed on the IMM1344, I put the same date for the sponsor and applicant signature box. I had sent that page to my husband so he can sign it and I have the paper back. When I printed the rest of the document last night, I noticed the mistake. Is that going to be an issue :'( I don't know what to do?? Much appreciated your help in advance...
It will be ok dont worry

Thanks @Johnybegood. I have couple things need your advice: Do I have to become PR first in order to get married? We are planning to marry outside Canada so do we need to register for a marriage certificate in Canada or else?

Looking forward for your reply

In order for us to register/log in to ecas, shall we use sponsor's information or applicant's?

Hello everyone
I posted here couple of weeks ago, but no one responded, Anyway, from what i read here(i have been reading this forum for a while now),mine should be a straight case. My wife is sponsoring me, we got married when she arrived here, in our country for vacation. We are the same nationality, near age, same level of education, valid marriage certificate, never been convicted, she has a stable job in Canada. My only concern is that we know each other less than 6 months, including the marriage. Also, i would like to visit her during the time the documents have been processed, but from what i hear, they do not issues tourist visas if you are applying for sponsorship. I would like to hear your opinion,
Thanks again in advance.

That's a very short relationship. Depending on the circumstances of the relationship and marriage, you can expect a lot more scrutiny from the VO.
As for a TRV, that's kind of a gamble. If you have strong ties to your home country, you may get lucky and succeed.

We were introduced by relatives. Other than that it was all internet conversation until we meet in person, and spent the vacations together.
Then we decided to get married. I don't mind the scrutiny, really. I just hope it will not drag the time of processing too much.
Thnx again for the reply.

Did you get married during your first visit together?

Yes, actually. The marriage was civil,no formal ceremony, while we had two separate ceremonies for the engagements, mine and hers.
We had relatives at both ceremonies (mother, father, brothers, sisters aunts, uncles and cousins).

That's unfortunate - this is typically a red flag for spousal sponsorship application. Have you visited each other since this trip?

She lives in Canada, so no unfortunately. If the application process goes more than December, we will spend Christmas and New Years together, but right now, no, no other visits.

1) No, you can get married before PR. Wife and I were married here in Canada July 3, before we applied. Alberta issued the marriage license without any problems.

2) You want the Certificate of Marriage from whatever country you are married in. In my example, since we were married in Canada, we ordered our Certificate from Alberta Vital Statistics.

This is not a major deal, but I was just curious if anyone might know...

I filed to extend my visitor visa shortly after applying for my outland PR. The visitor extension is still "Open" with nothing else happening with it. If I get approved for PR before they start processing it, can I ask for a refund of the fee? Has anyone done this before?

Again, I'm just curious. I don't need the money back, but it would be nice.

Thank you.

Dear Members,

I believe, I may get few inputs from you all with my below query.
Firstly, this query is with Marriage Certificate and is specific to my country (India). Apologies for rest if it creates a noise.

Will try to explain as below:
1. I am travelling to India next month for 3 weeks, to get married [Now in Canada as PR].
2. My fiancee now in USA will also be arriving for 3 weeks. Later back we are joining back to our jobs. Meanwhile I have started with outland app.

3. Marriage Certificate - As per rule in India, our marriage falls under "Special Marriage act".
4. Based on this rule, a minimum of month is needed to get marriage certificate. First file application for intention of marriage and later after marriage get certificate (30 days of gap is said before filing app and then getting certificate).

With our 3 weeks window, this sounds impossible.

Can someone provide me inputs with such situation:.
1. Can we file application earlier, without bride and groom available in India?
2. If someone has been through this process, kindly assist me with same.
3. Is there any other mode of obtaining marriage certificate in India (Bangalore), which should hold good to file sponsorship app.

Many thanks.

Hello guys. I have a question. I am submittting an outland application for spousal sponsorship. From 19-24 my spouse lived in canada and after that in her home country. As far as police certificate is concerned, does she need to provide police certificate for when she was in canada as well? or does she only need to provide police certificate from home country?
