Did they ask for originals or copies? Usually a JPG is ok, I'd double check for you but site is down atm.

They require Intention/plans to Reside from Sponsor. Already sent all the docs originals. even then they send this letter. Here is what they require.. Covering Letter from Applicant signed by Applicant Letter came through email to Applicant) Intent to Reside letter signed by Sponsor, Intent to Reside letter signed by Applicant, 4 Reference letters from Family singed as well. All other are snaps of searching, like Rental information/Hotels & Motel information, Airfare information from website, some photos.

This additional information must include the following documents:
> Sponsor's residency in Canada or plan to return to Canada: Evidence that your sponsor now
resides in Canada (this includes but is not limited to: copies of your sponsor's passport pages
showing entry stamp to Canada and travel itinerary, pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, and banking
history; driver's licences, property tax assessments, social Insurance or health Insurance cards
are not sufficient), or evidence of your sponsor’s intention/plans to reside in Canada should you
be issued with a permanent residence visa.

Hubby's had 2nd request at 14 months from application rec'd and then again 2 months later...the 3rd had no requests in the medical file and it took 2.5 months between the CIC Dr..the CIC help desk and my hubby sending emails to find out CIC couldn't figure out how to open the medical attachment and ended up the CIC Dr had to mail/courier the medical info...the Medical rec'd showed up on the CIC 05NOV2015 so it was a 6 month process from 2nd request...

Thanks... although this is dissapointing. So in short, bringing an American wife to Canada to live means she will live in limbo for a couple of years, can't work, and basically can't leave to go visit her familiy in America while processing. Talk about a busted system, such a shame!

I'm not sure where you got that information. US applicants are quite lucky, since their processing times are faster than most. Outland applicants can be in Canada while the processing is ongoing, and that usually takes 6-10 months. A lot of Americans are able to go home for visits without any impact on their application.
Inland applications have the option of an open work permit, but that process takes 2 years and it's not recommended that you leave Canada in that period. There's no reason for Americans to apply inland.

Some people may also qualify for work permits, through SWAP or NAFTA.

Depends on the situation and so many others things...Our case sat for 9 months...this I know from the case notes that indicated the only action was me asking for case notes... ..we are coming up on two years US to Canada...I have also seen other cases that are US to Canada without any issues taking 19 months...all outland..and recently at that....I say to people plan on the 17 months and be grateful if its sooner...

Hello! I have run into another question
I have finished putting together our application.. just waiting on a document from korea and our translations to be finished!

I am a little bit concerned after reading a lot of posts in other threads on here about the "date entered into a common-law relationship"

on CIC it says "Enter the date (year, month, day) you were married or you entered into your current common-law relationship.

Note: This is the date your status officially changed from being single to common-law, not the date you started living together."

So I put on our documents that the date we entered into our common-law relationship as the day it turned into 1 year of living together for example: if we started living together November 1st, 2014.. I would have put November 1st,2015 as the day entered into your common-law relationship on the forms

However, I read a lot of posts in a different thread how the date entered into common-law relationship should be the date that you moved in (which in the case of my example above would have been November 1st, 2014)
They said that the wording is weird because if you were room mates then fell in love and started dating like 6 months later then the day entered into common-law would be different as the day you moved in...
Im not sure I believe this...
What have others used who have been successful as their dates? date moved in or date after living together for 1 year ?

Thanks !
Just dont want to send off these documents next week and have made a big mistake!
